One, HB 625, known as the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/legiscan.com\/NH\/text\/HB625\/2021\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fetal Life Protection Act<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, would ban abortion after 24 weeks unless there is a threat to the life of the mother or \u201ca serious risk of substantial and irreversible impairment of a major bodily function.\u201d The other bill, HB 233, known as the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/legiscan.com\/NH\/text\/HB233\/2021\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Born Alive Infant Protection Act<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, mandates that life-sustaining care be given to all babies after birth, including abortion survivors, under threat of criminal penalty.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The second bill was not originally scheduled for a vote until Thursday. When the majority moved to take it up one day early, pro-abortion legislators walked out in protest. Because so many legislators were absent, a two-thirds majority was required to pass the bill. With a final count of 181-49 in favor, this was easily achieved.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kayla Montgomery, Senior Director of Public Affairs for Planned Parenthood New Hampshire Action Fund, called the Born-Alive bill \u201cincredibly cruel\u201d in an <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PPNHAF\/status\/1364720198700437514\/photo\/1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">official statement<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. She alleged the bill \u201chas real and devastating consequences to families who are grieving the loss of their child and want to be able to make personal decisions, such as religious rites and sacraments,\u201d and that it \u201ccould force doctors to weigh whether their medically appropriate care, such as neonatal hospice, will be met with a class A felony.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/cnn-fact-check-late-term-abortion-falsehoods\/\">CNN fills fact check on late-term abortions with falsehoods<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But this is just another typical case of Planned Parenthood obfuscation and doublespeak. There is nothing in the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/legiscan.com\/NH\/text\/HB233\/2021\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">text of the bill<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that even hints at prohibiting families from observing religious ceremonies for their deceased children, nor does it prohibit hospice care for the dying. &#8220;This bill doesn&#8217;t prevent a parent from holding a nonviable child; this bill respects life,&#8221; said Republican Representative Jordan Ulery.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The bill criminalizes depriving a born-alive infant of nourishment with the intention of killing it. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> would be cruel, but Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry frequently call evil good and good evil. Furthermore, there is a major difference between hospice care, which is intended to provide comfort until natural death, and intentional killing, which is murder.
