New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has signed a bill<\/a> repealing the state’s decades-old law which outlawed abortion except in certain circumstances. The bill will overturn the 1969 abortion ban and ensure that abortion remains legal in the state with no major restrictions on abortion in place, even in the event that Roe v. Wade<\/em>, the 1973 Supreme Court ruling that legalized abortion in the United States, is overturned.<\/p>\n

According to the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute, currently<\/a>, “New Mexico does not have any of the major types of abortion restrictions\u2014such as waiting periods, mandated parental involvement or limitations on publicly funded abortions\u2014often found in other states.”<\/p>\n

“Anyone who seeks to violate bodily integrity, or to criminalize womanhood, is in the business of dehumanization,” said Lujan Grisham in a statement. “New Mexico is not in that business \u2014 not anymore. Our state statutes now reflect this inviolable recognition of humanity and dignity.”\u00a0But there is nothing about killing a preborn child that is either humane or dignified.<\/p>\n

Abortion itself completely dehumanizes<\/em> an entire class of human beings \u2014 those\u00a0living in the womb. Abortion is the direct and intentional killing of innocent humans. It is not health care because it is never medically necessary<\/a> to deliberately target and kill a human being. Abortion does not heal anyone, but rather leads to an increased risk<\/a> of depression, alcohol and drug use, and suicidal thoughts for women who undergo the life-ending, life-altering procedure.<\/p>\n

All abortion procedures<\/a> include an aspect of violence, but perhaps the most horrific way to kill a preborn child is the most commonly used second-trimester D&E abortion. In this brutal procedure, even children who are old enough to live outside the womb are killed when the abortionists dismembers them \u2014 ripping their arms and legs from their torsos before crushing their skulls.
