Hurt After Abortion<\/a> is a new project from the organization Pro-Love Ministries in partnership with the Thomas More Society, a Catholic law firm. The goal is to help women who have experienced complications related to an abortion.<\/p>\n

“[T]he hope is that women who have been physically harmed by having an abortion procedure and who are seeking help in some way would find our site,” Hurt After Abortion’s executive director Pamela Whitehead told<\/a> The Christian Post. “We offer a free legal consultation and if the lawyers decide to take her case, then their services would be free of charge to her. We also offer a referral to an options-based healing network for abortion that would individualize the care to that woman based on her needs.”<\/p>\n

In addition to free legal assistance and help with emotional and spiritual healing from their abortions, women will also be provided with assistance in obtaining their medical records from the abortion businesses that committed their abortions.<\/p>\n

Whitehead noted that many women who go through abortions and suffer physical complications feel as they deserved the injuries. Whitehead obtained an abortion herself in 2001 and suffered complications, including a perforated uterus.<\/p>\n

“I left that clinic in an ambulance because I was injured,” she said. “The 14th Amendment… supposedly gives the right to have an abortion because of the right to privacy. But there’s another part of the 14th Amendment that is supposed to afford us equal protection under the law. […] I did not receive equal protection; I was not given the same standard of care that women who were having other surgeries were given.”<\/p>\n

She believes that the injuries women sustain during abortions are the evidence that is needed to overturn Roe v. Wade<\/em>, however, currently, only 28 states require<\/a> abortion complications to be reported at all. Because of this lack of accountability, there is no way to know exactly how many women have suffered physical injuries at the hands of abortionists.<\/p>\n

Abortion injuries may include hemorrhaging, infection, incomplete abortion with the child’s body parts left inside the womb, damage to the cervix and uterus, and damage to internal organs. Psychological injuries<\/a> also often occur, and women who undergo abortions are at an increased risk of depression, feelings of guilt, alcohol and drug abuse, and suicidal thoughts.<\/p>\n
