Senate Bill 75 (S.75) would prohibit doctors from committing abortions on children because of a diagnosis of Down syndrome. According to Sen. Inhofe\u2019s press release, Congressman Ron Estes of Kansas introduced a House companion bill to Inhofe\u2019s <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Protecting Individuals with Down Syndrome Act<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At least 21 senators have signed on to co-sponsor S.75, including Sens. Steve Daines (R-Mont.), James Lankford (R-Okla.), Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.), Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), Ben Sasse (R-Neb.), Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Rick Scott (R-Fla.), and Marco Rubio (R-Fla.).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sen. Inhofe said of his bill, \u201cAll children should be given the chance at life and our friends in the Down syndrome community are no exception. To take away a child\u2019s life because of his or her chromosome count is unthinkable and I am proud to take a stand today on behalf of those who cannot.\u201d He continued, \u201cIt\u2019s tragic that in the United States babies are being targeted simply because they have one more chromosome. This legislation is about ensuring the rights of individuals with disabilities are protected.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/pressured-abort-decimal-point-down-syndrome-misdiagnosis\/\">I was pressured to abort after a decimal point error led to a Down syndrome misdiagnosis<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Today in the United States, nearly two-thirds of babies diagnosed in the womb with Down syndrome are violently <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/obgyn.onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/pdf\/10.1002\/pd.2910\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">killed<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> before they are born. Worldwide, it is <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/thelifeinstitute.net\/learning-centre\/abortion-facts\/issues\/the-numbers\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">estimated<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that approximately 90% of babies diagnosed with Down syndrome are destroyed in their mothers\u2019 wombs, simply for having an extra chromosome. One country, Iceland, infamously <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/obgyn.onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/pdf\/10.1002\/pd.2910\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">boasted<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in 2017 that they were close to eradicating Down syndrome throughout their country \u2014 but in truth, the country had not eradicated the disease, but instead slaughtered an entire class of people with the condition in utero.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bill co-sponsor Sen.
