Starting in February, the state of Texas will no longer be required to award Medicaid funds to Planned Parenthood, thanks to a November decision by the Fifth Circuit.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

After the abortion giant requested a six-month grace period for patients to find new providers while still receiving care, the court <\/span>denied this request<\/span><\/a> but allowed for a 30-day grace period ending February 3.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The 5th Circuit and Texas attorney general based this decision in part on Planned Parenthood\u2019s involvement in the <\/span>illegal trafficking<\/span><\/a> of aborted baby body parts that came to light in 2015. \u201cUndercover video plainly showed Planned Parenthood admitting to morally bankrupt and unlawful conduct, including violations of federal law by manipulating the timing and methods of abortions to obtain fetal tissue for their own research,\u201d read a <\/span>statement from the AG<\/span><\/a>. \u201cPlanned Parenthood is not a \u2018qualified\u2019 provider under the Medicaid Act, and it should not receive public funding through the Medicaid program.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

In 2013, Planned Parenthood was fined $1.4 million for fraudulently over-billing the Texas state Medicaid program, as <\/span>reported<\/span><\/a> by Live Action News.<\/span><\/p>\n
