The report revealed that of the facilities that provided the majority of abortions, just 18% offered any kind of prenatal and\/or obstetric care. It also found that unlike facilities which committed more abortions, a higher percentage of non-abortion health care services were offered at facilities where fewer than half of patient visits were for abortions. In addition, the report noted that while the nation&#8217;s largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood, has seen <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/latest-planned-parenthood-report-abortions-dollars\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">declining health services,<\/a>\u00a0facilities, and patients, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) providing comprehensive health care to both men and women have seen growth every year in service sites as well as patient volume.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1016\/j.conx.2020.100043\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report<\/a>, &#8220;Abortion service delivery in clinics by state policy climate in 2017&#8221; was funded by an &#8220;anonymous donor&#8221; and was published at the pro-abortion Journal Contraception.\u00a0The <a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1016\/j.conx.2020.100043\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report<\/a>\u00a0used\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">data from Planned Parenthood\u2019s former \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/how-independent-is-guttmacher-from-planned-parenthood\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">special affiliate<\/a>,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/2000-20-million-abortions-declining\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Guttmacher Institute<\/a>, regarding all known US abortion facilities that provided abortions.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2017, Guttmacher <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/2000-20-million-abortions-declining\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">identified<\/a> 1,587 <em>abortion-providing facilities<\/em>\u00a0in the following<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0categories:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>808 <strong>total clinics<\/strong> provided 95% of all abortions.<\/li>\n<li>253\u00a0<strong>specialized abortion clinics<\/strong>:\u00a0(<em>nonhospital facilities in which half or more of patient visits were for abortion services, regardless of annual abortion caseload<\/em>) provided 60% of all abortions.<\/li>\n<li>555\u00a0<strong>nonspecialized clinics<\/strong>: (<em>nonhospital facilities in which fewer than half of patient visits were for abortion services) <\/em>provided\u00a035% of all abortions.<\/li>\n<li>518\u00a0<strong>hospitals<\/strong>: (<em>traditional hospital-based sites of care<\/em>) provided just 3% of all abortions.<\/li>\n<li>261\u00a0<strong>physicians\u2019 offices<\/strong>:\u00a0(<em>facilities that provided fewer than 400 abortions per year<\/em>) provided only 1% of all abortions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As such, Journal Contraception&#8217;s latest\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S2590151620300265?via%3Dihub\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report<\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">focused on providers categorized as clinics&#8221;because <\/span>the majority (95%) of abortions were provided by clinics in 2017&#8230;.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The report looked at five categories of services but gave a sparse definition of each one, writing, &#8220;Response options included contraception or family planning (excluding postabortion contraception), gynecological care (including sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment, and sexual health care), prenatal and\/or obstetric care, transgender-specific health services and general health care.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>What they found was that in 2017, &#8220;87% of clinics offered contraception or family planning and 85% offered gynecological care.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/media-spins-planned-parenthoods-lack-of-prenatal-care-services\/\">Media spins Planned Parenthood\u2019s lack of prenatal care services<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;While 100% of nonspecialized clinics offered standalone contraceptive services, 65% of specialized clinics did so,&#8221; the report stated.<\/p>\n<p>However, a clearer picture of this so-called &#8220;care&#8221; begins to emerge by examining the table included in the report, shown below.\u00a0According to the data, of the 808 abortion providers categorized by Guttmacher as &#8220;clinics&#8221; which provided 95% of all abortions in 2017, just 27% offered <em>general health care<\/em> while only 18% offered any type of <em>prenatal and\/or obstetric care<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Out of those categorized as &#8220;specialized abortion clinics&#8221; which commit 60% of abortions and where half or more of patient visits were for abortion services, just 11% offered <em>general healthcare<\/em> and only 5% offered <em>prenatal and\/or obstetric care<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>In the &#8220;nonspecialized clinics&#8221; category, which commits 35% of all abortions and where\u00a0fewer than half of patient visits were for abortion services, those numbers improved slightly with 36% offering\u00a0<em>general healthcare<\/em> and 25% offering some kind of <em>obstetric or prenatal care<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>In other words, &#8220;clinics&#8221; in which fewer than half of patient visits were for abortions (nonspecialized clinics) were those which offered more health care options than those that committed the majority of abortions.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_236628\" style=\"width: 1184px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-236628\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-236628 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/US-Abortion-cliics-which-offered-nonabortion-related-services-2017-Journal-Contraception.jpg\" alt=\"Image: US Abortion clinics which offered nonabortion related services 2017, Journal Contraception\" width=\"1174\" height=\"495\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/US-Abortion-cliics-which-offered-nonabortion-related-services-2017-Journal-Contraception.jpg 1174w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/US-Abortion-cliics-which-offered-nonabortion-related-services-2017-Journal-Contraception-300x126.jpg 300w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/US-Abortion-cliics-which-offered-nonabortion-related-services-2017-Journal-Contraception-768x324.jpg 768w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/US-Abortion-cliics-which-offered-nonabortion-related-services-2017-Journal-Contraception-700x295.jpg 700w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/US-Abortion-cliics-which-offered-nonabortion-related-services-2017-Journal-Contraception-500x211.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1174px) 100vw, 1174px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-236628\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">US abortion facilities which offered nonabortion related services 2017, Journal Contraception<\/p><\/div>\n<p>In contrast, FQHCs provided hundreds of thousands of women with prenatal care:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Planned Parenthood in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/uploads\/filer_public\/80\/d7\/80d7d7c7-977c-4036-9c61-b3801741b441\/190118-annualreport18-p01.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2017<\/a><\/strong>: <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>600 facilities<\/strong> provided<\/span>\u00a0332,757 abortions as well as 1,074,952\u00a0pregnancy tests,\u00a0<strong>9,055<\/strong> unspecified prenatal services and 2,831 adoption referrals. An Live Action News\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/over-half-planned-parenthood-revenue-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">analysis<\/a>\u00a0found\u00a0that in\u00a02017, the corporation\u2019s estimated abortion revenue was over $190 million, equating to 52% of its non-government health services revenue.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Planned Parenthood in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/latest-planned-parenthood-report-abortions-dollars\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2018<\/a><\/strong>: Planned Parenthood performed\u00a01,074,952\u00a0pregnancy tests and recorded 9,798 unspecified prenatal services and 4,279 adoption referrals, while committing the highest number of abortions (345,672) recorded in recent years.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/data.hrsa.gov\/data\/fact-sheets\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>FQHCs<\/strong><\/a><strong>\u00a0in\u00a02017<\/strong>: 10,400 FQHCs <a href=\"https:\/\/data.hrsa.gov\/tools\/data-reporting\/program-data\/national\/table?tableName=Full&amp;year=2017\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">served<\/a>\u00a0over 27 million patients, of which 573,026 were for prenatal care.<\/li>\n<li><strong>FQHCs in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/data.hrsa.gov\/tools\/data-reporting\/program-data\/national\/table?tableName=Full&amp;year=2018\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2018<\/a><\/strong>: 12,000 sites <a href=\"https:\/\/data.hrsa.gov\/data\/fact-sheets\">provided care<\/a> to more than 28 million patients, of which 563,740 were for prenatal care.<\/li>\n<li><strong>FQHCs in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/data.hrsa.gov\/tools\/data-reporting\/program-data\/national#fn12\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2019<\/a><\/strong>: 12,000 sites served nearly 30 million patients,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/data.hrsa.gov\/tools\/data-reporting\/program-data\/national\/table?tableName=Full&amp;year=2019\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">including<\/a> 583,328 who were prenatal care patients.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The information in the report seems to confirm an earlier undercover investigation\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-purges-prenatal-from-websites-after-live-action-investigation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">conducted<\/a>\u00a0by Live Action, which revealed that abortion \u2014 not prenatal care \u2014 is the primary service Planned Parenthood offers to pregnant clients. In past\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-anything-womens-health-organization\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">years<\/a>\u00a0(<a href=\"https:\/\/liveaction.org\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/2009-2010-Planned-Parenthood-Annual-Report.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2010<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/latest-planned-parenthood-report-abortions-dollars\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2018<\/a>), prenatal care has plummeted 68% at Planned Parenthood.<\/p>\n<p>It should be noted that what constitutes\u00a0\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=DPbXbMOChq8\">prenatal care<\/a>\u201d\u00a0and \u201cadoption referrals\u201d at Planned Parenthood is not disclosed. See below for more from former PP facility manager, Sue Thayer:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/QT_Qmu7Brbs\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A recent report from Live Action News <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-decade-millions-abortion-billions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">found<\/a> that from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/PPFAAR2011_110112_vF.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2010<\/a>\u00a0to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/latest-planned-parenthood-report-abortions-dollars\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2018<\/a>, Planned Parenthood received nearly $5 billion ($4,982,500,000) from US taxpayers while abortions increased and actual health care services dropped. As a result, Planned Parenthood&#8217;s net assets climbed nearly 72% from 1,159,600,000 in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/PPFAAR2011_110112_vF.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2010<\/a>\u00a0to\u00a01,993,000,000 in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/uploads\/filer_public\/2e\/da\/2eda3f50-82aa-4ddb-acce-c2854c4ea80b\/2018-2019_annual_report.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2018<\/a>, while\u00a0<strong>gaining $1,017,800,000<\/strong>\u00a0in <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/latest-planned-parenthood-report-abortions-dollars\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">excess revenue over expenses<\/a>. In fact, between\u00a02010 and 2018, Planned Parenthood\u2019s revenue totaled over $12 billion dollars while they <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-decade-millions-abortion-billions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">committed<\/a>\u00a02,970,388 of the nearly 7.7 million US abortions reported nationally during that time frame.<\/p>\n<p>Even <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/fraud-planned-parenthood-texas-sexist-racist-medicaid\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">today<\/a>, despite increased profits, skyrocketing abortions and declining health care services, this abortion behemoth is calling on states like Texas to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/fifth-circuit-texas-planned-parenthood-medicaid\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">not to remove Planned Parenthood facilities<\/a>\u00a0from its Medicaid programs. Yet, data from Planned Parenthood&#8217;s 2018-2019 annual report\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/latest-planned-parenthood-report-abortions-dollars\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reveals<\/a> that in just 2018, they committed nearly 81 abortions for every one adoption referral and over 35 abortions for every prenatal care referral that same year.<\/p>\n<p>The fact remains that abortion is not health care and abortion businesses are not health care facilities.
