HR 8939 aims to protect pain-capable preborn children from abortion.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/116th-congress\/house-bill\/8939?s=1&amp;r=28\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">full text<\/a>\u00a0of the bill is currently unavailable, but Democrats for Life of America (DFLA) wasted no time in thanking Gabbard. &#8220;Former Democratic Presidential Candidate Tulsi Gabbard introduced her SECOND Pro-Life bill this week, which would amend Title 18 of the U.S. code to give pain-capable fetuses rights under the law,&#8221; the group said on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Dems4Life\/posts\/3634493636570947\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Facebook<\/a>. &#8220;Tulsi has previously voted against this bill three times, but is now the SPONSOR of the new bill. [&#8230;] thank you Tulsi!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">DFLA has created a <a href=\"https:\/\/ujoin.co\/campaigns\/1099\/actions\/public\/1608002138?action_id=1122&amp;fbclid=IwAR1BlR7vJxOiNJvvfkFkKj0PT6HbCRIz6HzFbWsdygNF7esQna1M3UUNdIw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">petition<\/a> asking members of Congress to support Gabbard&#8217;s pain-capable abortion bill. The organization also has a <a href=\"https:\/\/ujoin.co\/campaigns\/1096\/actions\/public?fbclid=IwAR2VMqpg28j5yL1-o6Wyu9GSSh_WC5VCp1IzyUmN534RwuVZaUfBWML8aFA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">petition<\/a> asking Congress to support her abortion survivors protection bill.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fprolifesf%2Fposts%2F3644740928916544&amp;show_text=true&amp;width=534&amp;appId=137960262968925&amp;height=704\" width=\"534\" height=\"704\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Pro-Life San Francisco also thanked Gabbard on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/prolifesf\/posts\/3644740928916544\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Facebook<\/a>. &#8220;Democratic House Rep and former Democratic presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard has introduced two crucial bills, one to protect pain-capable fetuses and another to ensure the provision of healthcare for abortion survivors,&#8221; the group wrote. &#8220;Both are fundamental to ensuring justice for UCSF&#8217;s most vulnerable victims of fetal organ harvesting, and we are inspired to see them originate from a left-leaning national legislator. The future of California, the Democratic Party, and all of America is pro-life!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In the past, Gabbard has had a 100% pro-abortion voting record, including <a href=\"https:\/\/justfacts.votesmart.org\/candidate\/key-votes\/129306\/tulsi-gabbard\/2\/abortion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">voting against<\/a> similar pro-life bills to the ones she has introduced this month.\u00a0However, Gabbard\u2019s desire to see restrictions on abortion in the third trimester has earned her\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vice.com\/en\/article\/43k5db\/tulsi-gabbards-stance-on-abortion-is-stuck-in-the-90s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">criticism<\/a>\u00a0from many in the Democratic Party. Despite this, she has not backed down from this new stance. In a September 2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.catholicnewsagency.com\/news\/tulsi-gabbard-supports-late-term-abortion-ban-50787\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">interview<\/a>, Gabbard said she was once pro-life but now holds &#8220;a more libertarian position on this issue.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The previously introduced\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/senate-protecting-abortion-survivors-pain-capable\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act<\/a>\u00a0would have banned abortion after 20 weeks when it is generally believed that preborn children can feel pain, though more than one study has found that pre-born children are capable of feeling pain by the end of the first trimester. One of those\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/research-now-shows-reborn-babies-feel-pain-very-early-by-8-weeks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">studies<\/a>\u00a0found that the nervous system develops sooner than previously believed.
