{"id":232526,"date":"2020-10-12T18:33:39","date_gmt":"2020-10-12T23:33:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/?p=232526"},"modified":"2020-10-12T13:17:04","modified_gmt":"2020-10-12T18:17:04","slug":"pressured-abortion-trauma-private-hell","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/pressured-abortion-trauma-private-hell\/","title":{"rendered":"Abortion trauma: Woman pressured to abort is living her &#8216;own private hell&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>In a collection of women\u2019s abortion stories &#8220;Redeeming Grief: Abortion and Its Pain,&#8221;\u00a0a woman named Jacinta\u00a0wrote about being pressured by her partner into an unwanted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.abortionprocedures.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">abortion<\/a> that left her in her &#8220;own private hell.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>She recalled that when she told the father of her baby that she was pregnant, he was \u201ccold and uncaring.\u201d Jacinta explained:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>He just told me it\u2019s not a baby and it\u2019s just a <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/baby-bunch-cells-truth-devastated\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bunch of cells<\/a> and that I\u2019m going to have to get rid of it before it was too late. My heart and mind just were so torn, I didn\u2019t know what to do. I didn\u2019t want to have an abortion! It was his idea, and I felt that I couldn\u2019t have this baby when he didn\u2019t want it.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/bHe8YGPGzj4\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Emotionally dependent on her partner, Jacinta didn\u2019t think she could continue the pregnancy:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>He told me that I would destroy his life by keeping this baby. He made me feel so guilty that I felt I had no other alternative but to abort my precious baby\u2026. I was consumed with my partner and making him happy, his happiness at the expense of my sanity and self-respect.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>At one point, Jacinta promised her baby she wouldn\u2019t give in to her partner\u2019s wishes. She said, \u201cI held my belly and told my precious baby it will be okay. I won\u2019t let anything happen to you. I love you.\u201d But just two days later, she said she broke that promise. Her partner continued to pressure her and she could no longer take it. &#8220;The baby,&#8221; she said, &#8220;was the innocent victim in all of this.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Her partner was afraid that if she told abortion workers she didn\u2019t want the abortion, they would refuse to commit it. So, he ordered her to lie when she got to the abortion facility. However, the <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-treated-women-like-cattle-says-former-manager\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">abortion workers were so eager<\/a> for her to abort that Jacinta realized nothing she could\u2019ve said, even that she didn&#8217;t want the abortion, would have mattered. &#8220;[M]y partner told me to lie about everything so they wouldn\u2019t suspect I completely disagreed with having the abortion or they may not allow me to have it,&#8221; she explained. &#8220;The way I was treated I could\u2019ve said anything and they still would\u2019ve booked me in for the abortion. I did as I was asked and lied to the counselor \u2026 I saw no way of changing the situation.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/two-abortions-tubal-ligation-abortion-not-empowering\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>After two abortions and a tubal ligation, I hit rock bottom. I know abortion isn\u2019t empowering.<\/em><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Jacinta wrote her testimony seven years after her abortion. She has suffered extreme grief, shame, and \u201cemotional breakdowns.\u201d She explained:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>The pain and despair I felt for the past seven years has been my own private hell. I didn\u2019t realize that my behavior for those past seven years was due to the suppression of the pain and guilt I felt \u2026 In fact, the pain and shame I felt has now been suppressed for seven years and it has been so strong it resulted in me having three breakdowns, a lost relationship, lost career\u2026 The hardest thing for me to accept for seven years was that I couldn\u2019t and didn\u2019t fight for my baby.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Jacinta\u2019s abortion wasn\u2019t empowering, nor was it freely chosen.
