Back in pre-pandemic January, actress Michelle Williams<\/a> credited “the right to choose” with her professional success during an award acceptance speech at the Golden Globes. The actress received the award and later an Emmy for her role in the 2019 FX miniseries”Fosse\/Verdon.” During her speech, she said:<\/p>\n

I\u2019m grateful for the acknowledgment of the choices I\u2019ve made, and I\u2019m also grateful to have lived at a moment in our society where choice exists, because as women and as girls, things can happen to our bodies that are not our choice. I\u2019ve tried my very best to live a life of my own making, and not just a series of events that happened to me, but one that I could stand back and look at and recognize my handwriting all over \u2014 sometimes messy and scrawling, sometimes careful and precise \u2014 but one that I had carved with my own hand.\u00a0And I wouldn\u2019t have been able to do this without employing a woman\u2019s right to choose, to choose when to have my children and with whom.<\/em><\/p>\n

Perhaps the only thing more appalling about her speech than the raucous applause of approval it received from Hollywood’s acting elite was the irony of Michelle herself celebrating abortion while visibly pregnant.<\/p>\n
