Though her boyfriend wanted her to have an abortion, she refused, knowing that she might lose her boyfriend <em>and<\/em> her baby. She had been using meth right up until labor began. She hadn&#8217;t had any prenatal care. She and Isiah suffered complications throughout the birthing process, and she admits she &#8220;had hit rock bottom.&#8221; But as they say, hitting rock bottom means there&#8217;s no place to go but up.<\/p>\n<p>Isiah was placed in foster care and Candice decided to change.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;That was the last day I chose drugs,&#8221; she wrote. &#8220;I went to rehab &amp; accepted Christ into my life. I made every parent visit, did every class, passed every drug test &amp; worked my butt off to reunify just eight months later.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Candice didn&#8217;t just quit drugs and regain custody of Isiah. She and her husband also reunited, she is working towards her GED, and she is working on healing from past traumas she endured. After 22 months of sobriety, she now has custody of all of her children.<\/p>\n<p>Candice said that it was the foster mother of her children who helped her and loved her through it all. &#8220;I&#8217;m thankful for the foster mom who felt my brokenness &amp; gave me the support &amp; love that I didn&#8217;t feel worthy of,&#8221; wrote Candice. &#8220;She saw my hurting heart &amp; when all the odds were stacked against me &#8212; she never gave up on me, she fought alongside for my redemption.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>While the abortion industry promotes abortion as a necessity for women who are suffering from addiction, it wasn&#8217;t an abortion that saved Candice, it was her child and his birth. Abortion actually puts women at an <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/study-women-abort-depression-pregnancies-unwanted\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">increased risk of addiction<\/a>, but choosing life often gives women the motivation to make a change. Candice is not alone.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/children-foster-care-addiction-two-years-reunited\/\">Her children went to foster care because of her addiction, but two years later they were reunited<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/unplanned-pregnancy-changes-drug-addicts-life-better\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Leilani<\/a>, who was homeless and addicted to drugs at the time, was terrified when she learned she was pregnant. She knew she needed to do better for her son, and she accepted help from a pregnancy center to finally turn her life around. <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/light-world-chose-life-left-addiction\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Laura Amoretti<\/a> had only been sober for 90 days when she learned she was pregnant. Her sister pressured her to have an abortion and kicked her out when she refused. Amoretti and her boyfriend worked to overcome their addictions and stay sober for their son. <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/addicted-and-pregnant-kailees-story-of-hope\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kailee Perrin<\/a> didn&#8217;t think she could take of herself, let alone a baby. Her boyfriend was a drug dealer and they were using drugs and drinking daily. He wanted her to have an abortion. Instead, She went to rehab, and eventually, her boyfriend became sober too. They welcomed a daughter, got married, and had two more children.<\/p>\n<p>While not everyone will overcome an addiction because of their baby, children don&#8217;t deserve to die because of their mother&#8217;s addictions. Furthermore, the abortion industry does not have the right to belittle women and punish them with the added trauma of abortion because of those addictions. Women suffering from addiction <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/pregnant-addicted-drugs-better-choices-than-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">do not need abortion<\/a>.
