(LifeSite News<\/a>) –\u00a0Ten pro-life activists were arrested yesterday for blocking access to an abortion business in Sterling Heights, Michigan, just outside of Detroit, in an attempt to stop unborn babies from being killed in the facility.<\/p>\n

The Christian pro-lifers showed up at Northland Family Planning Centers on Thursday morning, beginning their \u201crescue\u201d minutes before 9 a.m.<\/p>\n

The term \u201crescue\u201d refers to people blocking access to an abortion center to prevent unborn babies from being killed, or entering the waiting room and directly interacting with mothers who are scheduled for an abortion.<\/p>\n

Cal Zastrow, one of the pro-lifers present at the abortion center, told LifeSiteNews that the people blocking the door were praying and singing, and \u201csidewalk counselors went into the parking lot and talked to the moms.\u201d<\/p>\n

Several babies were saved. \u201cWe know of three moms that left and didn\u2019t come back,\u201d he reported. \u201cAnd there were more turnaways, too. We\u2019re not even sure if they killed in the afternoon or not.\u201d<\/p>\n

After about an hour, police showed up. \u201cThey weren\u2019t angry, hostile,\u201d Zastrow said. \u201cThey tried to persuade us that we could be more effective working through the political process through (Michigan capital) Lansing and Washington, D.C. And we talked about that.\u201d<\/p>\n

On its Facebook page, the \u201cFeminist Flag Corps<\/a>\u201d lamented that pro-life activists and police were having a civil discourse.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne officer (Mike) buddied up with anti leader, Chet Gallagher, while transporting him to the jail where he was assured he would get a ticket for a small fine and be immediately released,\u201d the group wrote. \u201cUnbeknownst to this officer, Chet\u2019s phone, which was in the officer\u2019s custody, was livestreaming the entire time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe told Chet that he sympathized with his cause, as did the other officers there, and that \u2018These people are gonna answer for this one day\u2019 in reference to those at the clinic. He expressed his disgust with clinic clients and \u2018liberal legislators.\u2019 He also was preoccupied with how Chet was going to portray him on social media, wanting to not be \u2018demonized.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Zastrow explained, \u201cThey took us to the city jail. And then we were all charged for trespassing. And someone paid a hundred dollar bond. And so we all got out of jail that same day.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know if the city will pursue and prosecute, or if they\u2019ll be quiet and let it float,\u201d he said when asked about what is going to happen. \u201cI don\u2019t know if they\u2019ll repent to come to Jesus and say, \u2018Forgive us for arresting you. We want to be saved. We want to love Jesus and our police are going to go slow down the abortion clinic tomorrow, or today.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

He said the 10 pro-lifers have an attorney who would represent them should the city decide to take the case to court.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a joy. It was a blessing,\u201d Zastrow summarized. \u201cAnd I invite more people to do more peaceful rescues. Let\u2019s have more of them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Northland Family Planning Centers, with its three abortion centers in the Detroit area, was\u00a0founded<\/a>\u00a0by Renee Chelian, who was featured in one of David Daleiden\u2019s videos exposing the sale of aborted babies\u2019 body parts.<\/p>\n

While the original video has been removed from\u00a0YouTube<\/a>, an article published by\u00a0The Detroit News<\/a>\u00a0in 2015 reported on its content extensively.<\/p>\n

Chelian talked \u201cabout her dilemma when she anticipated her medical-waste vendor would stop accepting the remains of aborted fetuses. It prompted her to contemplate a drive to northern Michigan to get rid of them herself.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI had five months\u2019 worth of fetal tissue in freezers, and we were renting freezers to put them in. It was all I thought about,\u201d she said. \u201cI was so consumed with fetal tissue, I was ready to drive to northern Michigan and have a bonfire. I was just trying to find out how I wouldn\u2019t get stopped, or how far into the woods I would have to go to have this fire that nobody was going to see me.\u201d<\/p>\n
