Atkins, who underwent a late-term abortion in 2017, reportedly died from sepsis four days following the start of her abortion procedure. The newly released documents from the abortion business reveal Atkins was repeatedly drugged by abortion facility staff in the days leading up to her death.<\/p>\n<p>Atkins is believed to have been about six months pregnant when she visited Southwestern Women&#8217;s Options in New Mexico on January 31, 2017, to begin a late-term <a href=\"https:\/\/www.abortionprocedures.com\/induction\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">induction abortion<\/a>\u00a0procedure. On the first day of an induction abortion, the abortionist begins dilating the woman&#8217;s cervix and injects a feticide, such as digoxin, into the preborn baby&#8217;s heart to cause cardiac arrest. The woman then leaves the abortion facility to wait several days for cervical dilation to continue. After three to four days, she returns to the facility to deliver the body of her dead baby, although it is possible that she may give birth on her own at home or in her hotel room.<\/p>\n<p><center><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/r5Af8vIym2o\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/center>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>According to a <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Operative-Report-Final.pdf\">final operative report<\/a>\u00a0(<strong>warning: graphic<\/strong>)\u00a0from the University of New Mexico hospital provided to Live Action News by Abortion on Trial, Atkins&#8217; postoperative diagnoses show that she suffered from &#8220;respiratory distress&#8221; and &#8220;septic abortion.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Other documents obtained by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.abortionontrial.org\/post\/breaking-records-prove-keisha-atkins-was-drugged-and-sedated-for-days-leading-up-to-her-death\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Abortion on Trial<\/a> reveal that in the days between her initial appointment and her death, Atkins was continually given the dangerous medications fentanyl and Versed (midazolam) multiple times each day by abortion facility staff.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_228903\" style=\"width: 710px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/documents-keisha-atkins-drugged-before-abortion-death\/abortion-on-trial-1\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-228903\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-228903\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-228903\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/abortion-on-trial-1-700x638.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"638\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/abortion-on-trial-1-700x638.png 700w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/abortion-on-trial-1-300x273.png 300w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/abortion-on-trial-1-768x700.png 768w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/abortion-on-trial-1-500x455.png 500w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/abortion-on-trial-1.png 943w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-228903\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo shared with permission from Abortion on Trial.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The CDC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/drugoverdose\/opioids\/fentanyl.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">describes fentanyl<\/a> as a pain reliever &#8220;approved for treating severe pain, typically advanced cancer pain,&#8221; and as 50-100 times stronger than Morphine. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dea.gov\/factsheets\/fentanyl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">According to the DEA<\/a>, side effects include &#8220;sedation, confusion, drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, vomiting,&#8221; and more. <a href=\"https:\/\/medlineplus.gov\/druginfo\/meds\/a605043.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Medline<\/a> explicitly states that fentanyl should <em>only<\/em> be used to treat cancer pain and that it can cause &#8220;serious breathing problems.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/late-term-abortionist-mangled-patients-babies-traumatized\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Late-term abortionist \u2018mangled\u2019 two patients and their babies so badly that ER staff were traumatized<\/em><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Versed, or midazolam, is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mayoclinic.org\/drugs-supplements\/midazolam-injection-route\/description\/drg-20064813\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a medication used to cause sleepiness<\/a> before surgery, and <a href=\"https:\/\/medlineplus.gov\/druginfo\/meds\/a609014.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to Medline<\/a>, ensure the patient will not remember the details of the procedure. The next day, Atkins returned to the abortion facility, where she was given <em>numerous<\/em> doses of all three medications \u2014 fentanyl, Versed, and oxycodone \u2014 before being sent back to her hotel room, where she spent another night on her own, without any medical professionals monitoring her condition. On February 3, Atkins reported back to the facility once more, where she was <em>again<\/em> given fentanyl, Versed, and oxycodone, despite suffering from labored breathing.
