Four of the 27 were born alive in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ahca.myflorida.com\/MCHQ\/Central_Services\/Training_Support\/docs\/LiveBirthsByCounty_2020.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2020<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The information is compiled in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ahca.myflorida.com\/MCHQ\/Central_Services\/Training_Support\/docs\/LiveBirthsByCounty_2020.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report<\/a>, \u201cITOP Report of Infants Born Alive, Florida,\u201d on <a href=\"https:\/\/ahca.myflorida.com\/MCHQ\/Central_Services\/Training_Support\/Reports.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">file<\/a> at the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA). According to a spokesperson from the AHCA, ITOP stands for \u201cInduced Termination of Pregnancy.\u201d A previous Live Action News <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/babies-born-alive-abortions-continue\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report<\/a> noted that that four babies were reported to have been born alive after abortions in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20170414021257\/https:\/\/ahca.myflorida.com\/MCHQ\/Central_Services\/Training_Support\/docs\/ITOP_InfantsBornAlive_2015.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2015<\/a>, with none in 2016.\u00a0Eleven babies survived abortion attempts in <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/ITOPLiveBirthsByCounty2017.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2017,<\/a>\u00a0six in <a href=\"https:\/\/ahca.myflorida.com\/MCHQ\/Central_Services\/Training_Support\/docs\/LiveBirthsByCounty_2018.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2018<\/a>, and two in <a href=\"https:\/\/ahca.myflorida.com\/MCHQ\/Central_Services\/Training_Support\/docs\/LiveBirthsByCounty_2019.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>What happened to these abortion survivors is unclear, as no additional information was given.<\/p>\n<p>However, testimony from a Planned Parenthood representative delivered at the Florida Legislature in 2013 made it clear that abortion businesses refuse to guarantee that they will attempt to provide medical care to infants who survive abortions:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/o9E0qwpWJPw\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>State reports previously listed the counties involved; however, the state no longer publishes this information. Live Action News previously reviewed data from <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/ten-babies-born-alive-abortions-2015-3-states\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2015<\/a>,\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/ITOPLiveBirthsByCounty2017.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2017<\/a>, and part of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ahca.myflorida.com\/MCHQ\/Central_Services\/Training_Support\/docs\/LiveBirthsByCounty_2018.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2018<\/a>\u00a0when some information by county was available, but reports have since been updated to exclude this information. According to a 2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tallahassee.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2019\/07\/11\/abortion-numbers-florida-nation-trends-downward-florida-sees-uptick\/1675121001\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tallahassee.com<\/a> report, &#8220;between\u00a02016 and 2018, the number of procedures increased nearly a half percent.&#8221;\u00a0But that increased percentage could be climbing even higher. Charlotte Lozier Institute scholar Dr. Michael New recently\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Michael_J_New\/status\/1293269173427220481?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tweeted<\/a>, &#8220;Pro-lifers, Florida updated their abortion data from <a href=\"https:\/\/ahca.myflorida.com\/MCHQ\/Central_Services\/Training_Support\/docs\/TotalsByCounty_2020.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2020<\/a>\u00a0&amp; the news isn&#8217;t good. Last year, as of early August, 38,923 abortions had been performed[.] This year, as of early August, 41,666 abortions had been performed[.] That&#8217;s a 8.8% increase! We need to step up our game!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In 2019, a\u00a0total of 71,914 abortions were\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ahca.myflorida.com\/MCHQ\/Central_Services\/Training_Support\/docs\/TrimesterByReason_2019.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> in the state. Of that number, 4,226 (nearly 6%) were committed in the second trimester and nearly 61% (2,573) of those second trimester abortions were &#8220;elective.&#8221; Of just second trimester abortions, reasons given for abortion included financial (nearly 23%, or 953), mental or physical health of the mother or baby (16%, or 673) and less than 1% (27) were due to rape or incest, according to the report. In addition, in <a href=\"https:\/\/ahca.myflorida.com\/MCHQ\/Central_Services\/Training_Support\/docs\/TrimesterByReason_2019.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2019<\/a>,\u00a0two babies were aborted in the third trimester, reportedly for reasons of fetal &#8220;deformity or abnormality.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Of the 41,666 abortions <a href=\"https:\/\/ahca.myflorida.com\/MCHQ\/Central_Services\/Training_Support\/docs\/TrimesterByReason_2020.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> thus far in <a href=\"https:\/\/ahca.myflorida.com\/MCHQ\/Central_Services\/Training_Support\/docs\/TotalsByCounty_2020.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2020<\/a>\u00a0in Florida, a majority were elective (31,634). A total of 8,113 were committed for &#8220;social\/economic&#8221; reasons. Later abortions were no different. The report reveals that thus far in 2020 there have been 2,508 abortions committed in the second trimester and one in the third trimester. According to the Guttmacher Institute, a former &#8220;special affiliate&#8221; of Planned Parenthood,\u00a0there were 85 abortion facilities (65 which were clinics) in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.guttmacher.org\/fact-sheet\/state-facts-about-abortion-florida\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2017<\/a>, an 8% decline from 2014. In 2019, reports <a href=\"http:\/\/There are 71 clinics in the state that provide abortion services\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">showed<\/a> just 71 clinics in the state provided abortion. So far in 2020, ACHA lists 56\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.floridahealthfinder.gov\/facilitylocator\/ListFacilities.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">licensed<\/a>\u00a0abortion facilities in the state, 17 of which are Planned Parenthood centers.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to committed pro-life sidewalk counselors and pregnancy resource centers in the state, thousands of preborn children and their mothers continued to be rescued from abortion.
