Presumed Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden has selected Senator Kamala Harris as his running mate. NBC News reports<\/a>:<\/p>\n

The decision comes more than a year after Harris, who was also a 2020 Democratic candidate, clashed with Biden over racial issues during the first primary debate. If elected, she would be the nation\u2019s first female, first Black and first Asian American vice president.<\/em><\/p>\n

Picking Harris, who is 55, provides the ticket with some generational diversity. Biden, 77, would be the oldest president-elect in U.S. history.<\/em><\/p>\n

Harris, the former attorney general of California, is currently being sued<\/a> by pro-life journalist David Daleiden of the Center for Medical Progress. According to Fox News<\/a>, Daleiden asserts that Harris “conspired to violate his civil rights through a purportedly bogus prosecution” while serving as California attorney general. As Live Action News previously reported<\/a>:<\/p>\n

A motion previously filed<\/a> by the Thomas More Society revealed [that]… Harris secretly met<\/a> in person with Planned Parenthood executives, and Daleiden\u2019s home was raided just two weeks later. The e-mail exchanges uncovered by the Thomas More Society showed Harris and Planned Parenthood working together to get a search warrant, enabling them to obtain CMP\u2019s full, unedited videos. In response, Daleiden filed a federal lawsuit<\/a> against Harris, Planned Parenthood, and the National Abortion Federation.<\/em><\/p>\n

Daleiden’s complaint<\/a> accuses Harris and Xavier Becerra, the current California attorney general, of failing to mount a meaningful investigation of Planned Parenthood, after\u00a0Daleiden’s undercover recordings revealed Planned Parenthood executives describing a potentially criminal scheme to traffic fetal tissue. Instead, Daleiden and his colleague, Sandra Merritt, were prosecuted for recording Planned Parenthood executives without their consent, and for invasion of their privacy.<\/p>\n

According to a report<\/a> from the Washington Times, Harris also “collaborated [with Planned Parenthood officials] to draft legislation…\u00a0which would amend the penal code to make secretly recording and disseminating communications with health care providers a crime” in California. The Times also notes, “California sued [Daleiden] through an unprecedented application of the state’s eavesdropping law — a move that Daleiden alleges was intended to suppress journalism.”<\/p>\n

Harris has also\u00a0voted against<\/a> a bill requiring protections for abortion survivors during her time in the Senate and has\u00a0a 100% rating<\/a> from the Planned Parenthood Action Fund.<\/p>\n
