In the car, her sister-in-law gave her something she said was for motion sickness. When Seng Moon woke up in China, her hands were tied behind her back. After several months, she was moved to a Chinese family where she was tied up in a room for another one to two months. \u201cEach time when the Chinese man brought me meals, he raped me,\u201d she said. \u201cAfter two months, they dragged me out of the room. The father of the Chinese man said, \u2018Here is your husband.\u00a0Now you are a married couple.\u2019\u201d\u00a0Seng Moon soon gave birth to a son.\u00a0When she asked to return home, the husband said,\u00a0\u201cNo one plans to stop you. If you want to go back home, you can. But you can\u2019t take my baby.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Through determination and luck, she was able to escape her captors and return to Myanmar, with her son.\u00a0They hide in a camp for Internally Displaced Persons. Her horrific experience of being a forced bride will never leave her. She says, \u201cI\u2019m afraid the Chinese family will try to find me.\u201d All this, according to a detailed and devastating report by Human Rights Watch:\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hrw.org\/report\/2019\/03\/21\/give-us-baby-and-well-let-you-go\/trafficking-kachin-brides-myanmar-china\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.hrw.org\/report\/2019\/03\/21\/give-us-baby-and-well-let-you-go\/trafficking-kachin-brides-myanmar-china&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1596219285465000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHf2GhXd-kvqNxTOO197_fCF3dCBQ\">\u201cGive Us a Baby and We\u2019ll Let You Go.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Today is World Day against Trafficking in Persons. The State Department\u2019s 2020\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.state.gov\/trafficking-in-persons-report-2020\/\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.state.gov\/trafficking-in-persons-report-2020\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1596219285465000&amp;usg=AFQjCNGhNWIRSGWZeSyS9Qt33o1ItOpMVA\">Trafficking in Persons Report<\/a>, lists China as one of the world\u2019s worst offenders. China is a \u201cTier 3\u201d Nation \u2013 a status it shares with North Korea and South Sudan.<\/p>\n<p>According to the TIP report, China trafficks women and girls from within China, from the surrounding countries, and from as far away as Africa for \u201cforced concubinism leading to forced childbearing and sex trafficking via forced and fraudulent marriage to Chinese men.\u201d Not only is China an insatiable market for sexual slavery, but China also is a major purveyor of sexual slavery around the world: \u201cTraffickers subject PRC national men, women and children to forced labor and sex trafficking in at least 60 other countries.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/trump-legislation-china-human-rights-abuses\/\">Trump signs legislation to hold China accountable for human rights abuses<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All too often, these crimes are committed with the\u00a0<strong><em>assistance\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>of Chinese officials:\u00a0\u00a0\u201cDespite continued reports of law enforcement officials benefiting from, permitting, or directly facilitating sex trafficking and forced labor, the government did not report any investigations, prosecutions or convictions of law enforcement officials allegedly involved in the crime.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Reggie Littlejohn, Founder and President of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.womensrightswithoutfrontiers.org\/\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.womensrightswithoutfrontiers.org\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1596219285466000&amp;usg=AFQjCNF2boTIVmN6sV2tKE0mWq8vPgVGWQ\">Women\u2019s Rights Without Frontiers<\/a>, stated, \u201cThe reports of sexual slavery in China are as heartbreaking. They are the inexorable legacy of the One Child Policy. Because of the fatal combination of son preference with a coercive low birth limit, baby girls have been selectively aborted, abandoned, and medically neglected to the extent that there are now 30 to 40 million more males living in China than females.
