D&amp;Es are more commonly known as \u201cdismemberment abortions\u201d because they function by tearing a preborn baby apart limb by limb. Women seeking the abortion would not be punished, but abortionists who violate it would face up to two years in prison and a $10,000 fine, as well as be liable for civil penalties.<\/p>\n<p>The Nebraska Senate voted 30-8 Tuesday to advance the bill from committee to floor debate in the current legislative session, the <em>Omaha World-Herald<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/omaha.com\/news\/state-and-regional\/govt-and-politics\/nebraska-lawmakers-to-debate-proposed-abortion-method-ban\/article_16923da7-bf3a-59ca-91d5-68e95516f3b3.html\">reported<\/a>. \u201cI believe that discussion of human dignity belongs at the top of that list\u201d of legislative priorities, said Republican state Sen. Suzanne Geist, who introduced LB814. \u201cIt\u2019s more important to me than tax credits.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During the session, Republican state Sen. John Lowe referred listeners to a <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/jgw4X7Dw_3k\">video<\/a> by reformed ex-abortionist Dr. Anthony Levatino explaining dismemberment abortions in stark detail. \u201cIt\u2019ll make your heart wrench,\u201d he challenged his colleagues. \u201cIf you don\u2019t have a tear in your eye from watching that, you are cold-hearted.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"art-video-inline\">\n<div class=\"art-video-embed\" style=\"text-align: center;\" data-entry-id=\"209716\" data-entry-urltitle=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/tAhqAfC4KhI\" data-event-type=\"Video\" data-event-play=\"Play Article Video\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"entryid-209716\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/tAhqAfC4KhI\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-lazy-loaded=\"1\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/div>\n<div data-entry-id=\"209716\" data-entry-urltitle=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/tAhqAfC4KhI\" data-event-type=\"Video\" data-event-play=\"Play Article Video\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Lowe concluded his remarks by devoting the final minute of his time to a period of silence\u00a0to recognize abortion\u2019s victims:<\/p>\n<p>Pro-abortion activists have objected to the \u201cdismemberment\u201d label as inflammatory and misleading, but the abortion industry itself has effectively admitted its accuracy. The National Abortion Federation\u2019s own instructional materials <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/naral-calls-kansas-abortion-dismemberment-ban-medically-inaccurate\/\">describe<\/a> \u201cgrasping a fetal part,\u201d then \u201cwithdraw(ing) the forceps while gently rotating it\u201d to achieve \u201cseparation.\u201d Notorious late-term abortionist Warren Hern has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nrlc.org\/uploads\/stateleg\/DismembermentFAQJan15.pdf\">written<\/a>\u00a0that\u00a0\u201cthere is no possibility of denial of an act of destruction by the operator (of D&amp;E procedures). It is before one\u2019s eyes. The sensations of dismemberment flow through the forceps like an electric current.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Defenders also claim dismemberment abortions are the safest second-trimester procedure available (for the mother), but pro-lifers suspect abortionists actually prefer D&amp;E abortions because they can <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthoods-pre-abortion-dilation-practice-best-women-planned-parenthood\/\">fit more into their schedule<\/a>, and therefore make more money. \u201cDismemberment abortion facilitates fetal harvesting,\u201d Kansans for Life executive director Kay Culp told LifeSiteNews last year. \u201cClinicians experimenting on aborted baby parts don\u2019t want their research tainted by drugs, and, they want fresh organs \u2013 packed for shipping within minutes of death.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Opponents of LB814 objected that the bill was a waste of time because it\u2019s sure to get struck down in the courts anyway. While a federal appeals court <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifesitenews.com\/news\/kentucky-law-banning-gruesome-dismemberment-abortions-cant-be-enforced-court-reaffirms\">did block<\/a> Kentucky from enforcing its dismemberment abortion ban last month, pro-lifers note that in 2000\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/supreme.justia.com\/cases\/federal\/us\/530\/914\/case.html\"><em>Stenberg v. Carhart<\/em><\/a>, even pro-abortion Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens admitted that partial-birth abortion and dismemberment abortion were \u201cequally gruesome,\u201d and that it was \u201csimply irrational\u201d to conclude that one was \u201cmore akin to infanticide than the other.\u201d <em>Stenberg<\/em> struck down the federal partial-birth abortion ban, but <a href=\"https:\/\/supreme.justia.com\/cases\/federal\/us\/550\/124\/\"><em>Gonzales v.
