Despite following the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.birmingham.ac.uk\/research\/public-affairs\/policy-briefings\/Progesterone.aspx\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">same medical protocols<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0that have been used to halt miscarriages for years, pro-abortion activists have reacted with scorn to the idea that a woman might be able to reverse the decision to abort her child using the abortion pill regimen, dismissing it as\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/not-medical-theater-reality-abortion-reversal-angers-abortion-backers\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">medical theater<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While there is evidence to the contrary, this has not stopped a nonprofit watchdog group, the\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/campaignforaccountability.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/FDA-Letter_Abortion-Reversal_5_20_2020.pdf\">Campaign for Accountability<\/a>\u2014\u00a0which <a href=\"https:\/\/campaignforaccountability.org\/priorities\/reproductive-rights-themis-project\/\">has an entire project<\/a> devoted to taking down what they call &#8220;anti-choice&#8221; groups\u2014<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">from calling on the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to \u201cseize the website domains\u201d for any group that markets the allegedly \u201cdangerous\u201d abortion pill reversal protocol.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Misrepresenting a\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/journals.lww.com\/greenjournal\/Abstract\/2019\/01000\/Efficacy_of_Misoprostol_Alone_for_First_Trimester.19.aspx\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2019 study<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0from the University of California that analyzed the effectiveness of progesterone treatments, the watchdog group highlighted the study\u2019s termination due to \u201csafety concerns.\u201d Three of the twelve women participating in the study were hospitalized for severe bleeding, and Campaign for Accountability incorrectly attributed these complications to the abortion pill reversal. In reality, the research proved the opposite was true.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/FSK9ptRccYM\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Funded by\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/media-abortion-pill-reversal-questionable-study\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Danco Laboratories<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u2013 the abortion pill manufacturer \u2013 and only recruiting 12 of the intended 40 participants for the study, women were randomly given either a placebo or progesterone. As the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lozierinstitute.org\/cli-responds-to-halting-of-abortion-pill-trial\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Charlotte Lozier Institute<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0pointed out, the study was prematurely terminated because 25% (3 out of 12) of participants suffered severe hemorrhaging after taking the abortion pill.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These complications could not have stemmed from the progesterone treatment. Two of the women in the study who required ambulatory care had been given the abortion pill itself, followed by a placebo. While the third woman had been given progesterone,\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/telabortion-study-girls-10-dishonestly-remains-aborted\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">excessive bleeding<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0is a risk associated with the abortion pill, not progesterone.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/obgyn-debunks-study-defends-abortion-pill-reversal\/\">OB-GYN debunks pro-abortion study and media cover-up, defends abortion pill reversal<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Campaign for Accountability also appealed to the FDA on the grounds that abortion pill reversal is \u201cunproven\u201d and women are being used as \u201cguinea pigs.\u201d But the California study the group cited that supposedly proves its dangerous ineffectiveness refutes their argument. A fetal heartbeat was detectable in\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lozierinstitute.org\/cli-responds-to-halting-of-abortion-pill-trial\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">80 percent of women<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0who reversed their abortions, and twice as many patients who had taken progesterone were able to continue their pregnancies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s ironic for the watchdog organization to uphold chemical abortions as \u201csafe and effective.\u201d Several women died during\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2006\/04\/10\/opinion\/deaths-after-ru486.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">clinical trials<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0for the abortion pill, but the group has not treated it with the same skepticism they reserve for the reversal process. Between 2000 and 2018, there were\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/downloads\/Drugs\/DrugSafety\/PostmarketDrugSafetyInformationforPatientsandProviders\/UCM603000.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">4,195 chemical abortion complications<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, ranging from 24 maternal deaths, 97 undiagnosed ectopic pregnancies, 1,042 hospitalizations, 599 blood transfusions, and 412 infections.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And these were just adverse outcomes that were reported to the FDA. Without a\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-complications-reported-cant-claim-safe\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">federal requirement<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0mandating the proper recording of abortion complications, the data is incomplete.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Women deserve to know the full dangers of the abortion pill, as well as the possibility of reversing a regretful abortion decision.
