In Illinois, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/what-we-do\/investigations\/abortioncorporation\/\">Planned Parenthood<\/a> just opened its 18th facility, which will offer abortions.<\/p>\n<p>The facility is located in Waukegan, and was originally supposed to open in March. Though the opening was pushed back temporarily due to COVID-19, they&#8217;re now accepting appointments, and appear eager to get the word out.<\/p>\n<p>According to Jennifer Welch, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Illinois, the COVID-19 pandemic has somehow &#8220;created a growing urgency&#8221; for\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.abortionprocedures.com\" rel=\"noopener\">abortions<\/a>. &#8220;At PPIL, we believe ensuring access to high-quality health care is part of having a healthy community and our new Waukegan Health Center is a critical piece of that puzzle,\u201d she said in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/planned-parenthood-illinois\/newsroom\/planned-parenthood-of-illinois-opens-new-health-center-in-lake-county\" rel=\"noopener\">a press release<\/a>. \u201cThe COVID-19 pandemic created a growing urgency for increased access to essential health care in the region. I\u2019m proud that PPIL is able to open our doors to help area residents seeking high-quality sexual and reproductive health care.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/report-illinois-abortion-dumping-ground-midwest\/\">New report shows Illinois has become \u2018the abortion dumping ground of the Midwest\u2019<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>While thousands in Illinois have died from COVID-19 (nearly 4,000 at the time of publication), causing politicians to close businesses, the abortion industry is allowed to remain open. In 2018 alone, 42,000 preborn babies\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/dph.illinois.gov\/data-statistics\/vital-statistics\/abortion-statistics\">lost their lives to abortion in Illinois<\/a>.\u00a0Just last year, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed an extreme pro-abortion bill <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/illinois-house-passes-abortion-worse-new-york\/\" rel=\"noopener\">into law<\/a> that erases virtually all of the state&#8217;s restrictions on abortion. The new law repealed a previous ban on partial-birth abortion (D&amp;X) and repealed parental notification laws. We are honored to open our doors and serve the people of Lake County during this unprecedented time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the press release, the Waukegan location was specifically chosen because it is the third-largest county in Illinois, has a large uninsured population, and the location will be able to serve Illinoisans across six counties. The Chicago Tribune <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chicagotribune.com\/suburbs\/lake-county-news-sun\/ct-lns-waukegan-planned-parenthood-st-0513-20200512-a7z6aasvvncbrdvjfhna6dck5e-story.html\" rel=\"noopener\">also noted<\/a> that the facility is easily accessible through public transportation.<\/p>\n<p>Illinois Right to Life Executive Director Mary Kate Knorr released <a href=\"https:\/\/illinoisrighttolife.org\/in-the-midst-of-quarantine-new-planned-parenthood-opens-in-illinois\" rel=\"noopener\">a statement<\/a> in response to the news of the facility&#8217;s opening.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGovernor Pritzker reminds us every day in his press conferences that we are being confined to our homes so as to protect human life, yet a brand new abortion clinic has been allowed to open,\u201d she said. \u201cChurches, schools, and businesses are closed\u2026 but the nation\u2019s largest killer of the unborn is expanding. Now is the time for righteous anger. This isn\u2019t just about our state \u2013 13 percent of Illinois abortions are performed on out-of-state women.
