This is significant; at 11 weeks of pregnancy, Planned Parenthood itself admits that the abortion pill <strong>fails 13 percent of the time<\/strong> &#8212; nearly <em>double<\/em> the failure rate for the abortion pill given just two weeks earlier.<\/p>\n<p>According to Planned Parenthood&#8217;s own published statistics, the failure rate for the abortion pill at nine weeks is seven percent (7%), at 10 weeks &#8211; nine percent (9%), and at 11 weeks it jumps to 13 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Planned Parenthood&#8217;s website has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/learn\/abortion\/the-abortion-pill\">recently been altered<\/a> to add the 10-11 week range for the abortion pill, showing that&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For people who are 8 weeks pregnant or less, it works about 94-98 out of 100 times [2 to 6% failure rate].<\/li>\n<li>For people who are 8-9 weeks pregnant, it works about 94-96 out of 100 times.\u00a0[4 to 6% failure rate].<\/li>\n<li>For people who are 9-10 weeks pregnant, it works about 91-93 out of 100 times.\u00a0[7 to 9% failure rate].<\/li>\n<li>For people who are 10-11 weeks pregnant, [past FDA approved limits] it works about 87 out of 100 times.\u00a0[13% failure rate].<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If the abortion pill fails, it can either mean that the baby is still alive, or it could mean that the baby&#8217;s remains are still in the woman&#8217;s uterus and could cause an infection. In the latter case, more pills or a follow-up surgical abortion may be required to prevent infection. Planned Parenthood&#8217;s flouting of FDA rules in adding an unapproved extra week for the abortion pill demonstrates a clear lack of concern for abortion clients. The image below promotes the pill at 11 weeks despite the high failure rate, but in doing so also promotes an &#8220;extra dose of medicine&#8221; \u2014which may come with an extra charge for clients. At that time, Live Action News <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/incomplete-abortion-pill-thousands-emergency-care\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">calculated<\/a>\u00a0a failure rate between 2% and 9% based on Planned Parenthood\u2019s previously published numbers, which claimed the abortion pill was effective 91 to 98 out of 100 times depending on gestational age.\u00a0This meant that the abortion pill theoretically failed between 7,000 to 24,000 times annually \u2014 or even as high as 31,000 times a year based on Guttmacher\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.guttmacher.org\/sites\/default\/files\/report_pdf\/abortion-incidence-service-availability-us-2017.pdf\">2017<\/a>\u00a0total of 339,640 chemical abortions.<\/p>\n<p>Now, with the change in statistics, the abortion pill used from 0 to 11 weeks (2%\u00a0to 13%) could fail between 7,000 and 44,000 times every year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/alarming-abortion-pill-ultrasounds-guess\/\">Alarming \u2018no test\u2019 abortion pill protocol: No ultrasounds, no labs, and just take women\u2019s best guess<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A preborn baby between nine and 12 weeks has growing toes and fingers, hardening bones, and kidneys that make urine, according to Planned Parenthood&#8217;s own\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/learn\/abortion\/the-abortion-pill\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">information<\/a> on fetal development. The <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/american-college-obstetricians-gynecologists-pro-abortion\/\">pro-abortion<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/american-college-obgyns-scrutinize-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">American College of Obstetricians and Gynecology<\/a>\u00a0(ACOG) notes in its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.acog.org\/store\/products\/patient-education\/books\/your-pregnancy-and-childbirth\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">book<\/a>\u00a0that at 11 weeks, the baby&#8217;s muscles begin to develop and the backbone is &#8220;soft and can flex.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_223597\" style=\"width: 462px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-223597\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-223597\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Planned-Parenthood-fetal-development-9-to-12-weeks-accessed-5132020.jpg\" alt=\"Image: Planned Parenthood fetal development 9 to 12 weeks accessed 5132020\" width=\"452\" height=\"788\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Planned-Parenthood-fetal-development-9-to-12-weeks-accessed-5132020.jpg 452w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Planned-Parenthood-fetal-development-9-to-12-weeks-accessed-5132020-172x300.jpg 172w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Planned-Parenthood-fetal-development-9-to-12-weeks-accessed-5132020-402x700.jpg 402w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 452px) 100vw, 452px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-223597\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Planned Parenthood fetal development 9 to 12 weeks (accessed 5132020)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>In addition to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20200407170218\/https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/learn\/abortion\/the-abortion-pill\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">updating<\/a>\u00a0its website\u00a0on dispensing the abortion pill up to 11 weeks of pregnancy in defiance of the FDA&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.accessdata.fda.gov\/drugsatfda_docs\/rems\/Mifepristone_2019_04_11_REMS_Document.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">REMS<\/a> safety system limits,\u00a0Planned Parenthood has also signaled plans to eliminate <em>in-facility<\/em> testing,\u00a0such as lab work and ultrasounds, to confirm the date of a woman\u2019s pregnancy. As Live Action News <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/no-test-abortion-pill-protocol-access-safety\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">previously<\/a> documented, the abortion industry has begun rolling out a &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/alarming-abortion-pill-ultrasounds-guess\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">no-test<\/a>&#8216; abortion pill protocol, which was in the works for years <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/no-test-contact-abortion-covid-works-time\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">before<\/a>\u00a0it was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/alarming-abortion-pill-ultrasounds-guess\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">initiated<\/a>\u00a0under the guise of the COVID-19 pandemic.\u00a0The protocol suggests that abortion providers rely only on a patient&#8217;s self-confirmation to determine pregnancy and estimated gestational age, assuming that the woman&#8217;s \u201clast menstrual period started \u226477 days before anticipated date of mifepristone ingestion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Under the FDA REMS safety system,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.accessdata.fda.gov\/drugsatfda_docs\/rems\/Mifepristone_2019_04_11_Prescriber_Agreement_Form_for_GenBioPro_Inc.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prescribers<\/a> like Planned Parenthood must have the ability to assess the duration of pregnancy accurately, the ability to diagnose ectopic pregnancies, the ability to provide surgical intervention in cases of incomplete abortion or severe bleeding or to have made plans to provide such care through others, and the ability to assure patient access to medical facilities equipped to provide blood transfusions and resuscitation, if necessary.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.accessdata.fda.gov\/scripts\/cder\/rems\/index.cfm?event=RemsDetails.page&amp;REMS=390\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">REMS requirements<\/a>\u00a0also clearly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.accessdata.fda.gov\/drugsatfda_docs\/rems\/Mifepristone_2019_04_11_REMS_Document.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">instruct<\/a>\u00a0that the &#8220;sponsor&#8221; (the pill&#8217;s manufacturer, Danco Laboratories) must &#8220;ensure that healthcare providers who prescribe their mifepristone are specially certified in accordance with the requirements described above and <strong>de-certify healthcare providers who do not maintain compliance with certification requirements<\/strong>\u00a0[emphasis added].&#8221;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_223793\" style=\"width: 1322px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-223793\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-223793\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/FDA-REMS-for-abortion-pill-requirements-April-2019.jpg\" alt=\"Image: FDA REMS for abortion pill requirements April 2019\" width=\"1312\" height=\"775\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/FDA-REMS-for-abortion-pill-requirements-April-2019.jpg 1312w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/FDA-REMS-for-abortion-pill-requirements-April-2019-300x177.jpg 300w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/FDA-REMS-for-abortion-pill-requirements-April-2019-768x454.jpg 768w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/FDA-REMS-for-abortion-pill-requirements-April-2019-700x413.jpg 700w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/FDA-REMS-for-abortion-pill-requirements-April-2019-500x295.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1312px) 100vw, 1312px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-223793\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">FDA REMS for abortion pill requirements April 2019<\/p><\/div>\n<p>This shift away from accurate pregnancy dating to a system of &#8220;believing the woman&#8217;s best guess&#8221; could easily result in the gestational age being inaccurate by several weeks.
