Dr. Jeffrey Barke, a family physician and the medical director of Pathways to Independence<\/a> (an organization dedicated to transforming the lives of disadvantaged women) recently <\/span>criticized<\/span><\/a>\u00a0California Governor Gavin Newsom\u2019s handling of the coronavirus pandemic. Barke addressed a rally of people who had gathered to protest the governor\u2019s actions, disparaging Newsom for restricting church attendance and other activities, but not abortions.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In his speech, <\/span>Barke<\/span><\/a> stated that he represents the \u201cthousands of physicians across the country whose voices are being silenced because we don\u2019t agree with the mainstream media and the experts who are telling us what to do.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

He continued, saying, \u201cNever in the history of this country have we been told that you can\u2019t go to church because it\u2019s \u2018non-essential\u2019 but you can go get an abortion because that\u2019s \u2018essential.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Barke is in agreement with over <\/span>30,000 doctors<\/span><\/a> who have declared abortion is never medically necessary and have spoken out against the idea that it\u2019s somehow needed during a global pandemic. <\/span>The American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists (AAPLOG<\/span><\/a>) deemed the continued practice of abortions in the midst COVID-19 \u201cmedically irresponsible.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
