As part of a coalition of reproductive health organizations, <\/span>Planned Parenthood<\/span><\/a> is not wasting any time during Sex Ed for All Month, as sexual education is apparently necessary for kids to \u201csecure the future they envision for themselves.\u201d The nation’s \u00a0number one abortion provider has helped spearhead an initiative that will utilize digital resources to teach young people about how to make \u201cinformed decisions\u201d about their sexual welfare. <\/span>Dr. Sara C. Flowers<\/span><\/a>, the vice president of education for the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, was ecstatic about the program, stating, “<\/span>Even in these unprecedented times, we must continue to champion the importance of sex education for young people.\u00a0<\/span>We know from years of research that sex education helps young people develop the age-appropriate skills they need to make healthy decisions for themselves, their relationships, and their futures….”<\/span><\/p>\n

She continued that since parents and children are at home together during the pandemic, they should “have supportive, ongoing dialogue with their children and teens about sex and relationships,” and naturally, <\/span>“[r]esources from <\/span>the experts at Planned Parenthood<\/strong> and our partners can help start these conversations. We hope they\u2019ll also advocate for quality programs at the federal, state, and local levels so that all young people have access to sex education.” (emphasis added) \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Since schools are currently closed because of COVID-19, Planned Parenthood wants to make sure its preferred form of sex education is still being relied upon — but now, Planned Parenthood must convince parents<\/em> to see them as the experts, which is atypical<\/a> for the corporation<\/a>, to say<\/a> the least<\/a>. Directing people to the #SexEdForAll video challenge, <\/span>Planned Parenthood<\/span><\/a> is encouraging people to share how \u201csex education can promote social change.\u201d They\u2019re also encouraging people to partake this month in an instructional curriculum in order to be equipped with the skills needed to protect sexual health.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Highlighting the aspects of the online program, <\/span>Planned Parenthood<\/span><\/a> promises that participants will be educated on \u201chow [they] can be an advocate from home\u201d when it comes to promoting \u201csex ed for all.\u201d Starting with instructions on \u201cwhy we need sex ed for all and what we need to do to get there,\u201d the online lessons will culminate with education on how to demand state and local policy changes from government.<\/span><\/p>\n

When Planned Parenthood declares that \u201cYoung people need and deserve quality sex education and sexual health care all year round\u2026\u201d it\u2019s hard not to see the agenda.<\/span><\/p>\n
