One week after opening an investigation into state abortion facilities, Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry’s COVID-19 Task Force has referred its findings to the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) for further action, according to a statement emailed to Live Action and also posted by <\/span>National Right to Life News<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The task force was originally convened to investigate potential violations of the LDH statewide ban<\/a> on elective and non-emergency procedures by the state’s abortion facilities and others, as Live Action News <\/span>reported<\/span><\/a>. One week later, Landry announced that the state\u2019s COVID-19 Task Force completed investigations into the state\u2019s three abortion facilities located in Shreveport, Baton Rouge, and New Orleans.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOur fact-finding investigations will be sent to LDH which can take further action against those facilities that are not in compliance with the emergency orders or otherwise pose a threat to public health,\u201d Landry said, according to the statement. \u201cWe will continue to assist LDH by getting it the information it needs to enforce its regulations.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The results of the COVID-19 Task Force investigations into the state\u2019s abortion facilities have not been released to the public, pending enforcement action by LDH. As Live Action News has <\/span>reported<\/span><\/a>, Louisiana\u2019s abortion facilities have a dangerous history of \u201cinstitutional negligence\u201d that has endangered not only preborn babies, but also <\/span>vulnerable women<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Attorney General Landry\u2019s office has also learned of a pending legal challenge to LDH\u2019s order by June Medical Services — the same abortion facility whose legal challenge to a state admitting privileges requirement is before the Supreme Court in <\/span>June Medical Services v. Russo<\/span><\/a><\/em>. Landry took a strong stand against the pending legal challenge.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIn the midst of a public health crisis, while the rest of Louisiana has come together to fight COVID-19, it is shocking that abortion clinics like June Medical are again arguing in court that the rules applying to other facilities do not apply to them,\u201d the attorney general said<\/a>. \u201cWe stand ready to provide a legal defense of the actions LDH has taken to protect the public health of all Louisiana citizens.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

While the abortion industry continues to show <\/span>greed and callousness<\/span><\/a> during the global pandemic by flagrantly ignoring bans on elective procedures that are designed to slow the spread of the coronavirus, pro-life elected officials like Attorney General Landry continue to take proactive measures to protect all Americans, including the preborn.<\/span><\/p>\n
