The American Civil Liberties Union and Planned Parenthood have come to an agreement<\/a> with the government of Iowa that will allow abortions to continue in the state during the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

The abortion giant and the ACLU sued Iowa after Governor Kim Reynolds issued<\/a> a proclamation last week calling for the suspension of all non-essential medical procedures until April 16. On Friday, Reynold’s office confirmed that the proclamation includes abortion. However, during a scheduled hearing on Thursday, an agreement was struck that benefits Planned Parenthood.<\/p>\n

“Planned Parenthood will resume seeing patients,” ACLU communications director Veronica Fowler told The Iowa Standard<\/a>. “We no longer need a temporary injunction because women are once again able to access abortion services. However, we are going to keep the overall lawsuit open just because this is an ever-changing, very fluid situation. We want to protect women who want abortion services and we basically want to keep the lawsuit open to make sure there aren’t other attempts to restrict access.”<\/p>\n

Fowler, however, admitted the truth in her statement. Abortion is a “want” for women, not a need — although countless women are actually pressured into abortion<\/a> and don’t undergo them willingly.<\/p>\n

According to Fowler, the attorneys determined that the language of the governor’s proclamation could be read to allow “essential” abortions. However, when asked by the Iowa Standard if there was an agreed-upon definition for what dictates an “essential” abortion, Fowler said she doesn’t believe there is “any legal definition hammered out on essential.” So business will resume as usual for abortion facilities across the state based on the false idea that all or any abortions are “essential.”<\/p>\n

“This will basically allow for women and their physicians to make a case-by-case determination for each patient,” said Fowler. “So it’s up to the patient and the physician, which is the way it should be.” However, abortion is not a topic discussed between a doctor and a patient. Women go to an abortion business and barely speak to the abortionist<\/a> who is a person they have likely never met nor will see again after the abortion is completed.<\/p>\n

In a joint statement<\/a> from Planned Parenthood, ACLU of Iowa, and the Emma Goldman Clinic, the pro-abortion groups said that the agreement “allows physicians to treat abortion the same as other procedures…” But abortion is nothing like a medical procedure. Medical procedures – especially “essential” procedures – save lives and protect health. Abortions exist solely to end human life and are never medically necessary<\/a>. Killing a preborn child before removing her from her mother’s womb is never necessary to save the life of a woman.<\/p>\n
