Live Action News has learned that during the COVID-19 pandemic — while there is an urgent need and shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE) to help coronavirus patients — Planned Parenthood is asking for donations of PPE.<\/p>\n

Hospitals are running out of masks and gowns in the fight to save lives infected with COVID-19, yet Planned Parenthood Keystone<\/a> in Pennsylvania posted<\/a>, “Donations Needed: In uncertain times like this, Planned Parenthood is as committed to patients as always. We will provide as many people as possible with the critical sexual health\u00a0care\u00a0they need to stay safe and healthy.\u00a0In order to help us do this, please consider donating\u00a0hand sanitizer,\u00a0home sewn masks, shoe covers,\u00a0and surgical hats\u00a0to protect our medical staff as\u00a0they continue to provide care in our communities<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n

Live Action News also received a copy of a March 26th e-mail from Sue Dunlap, President\/CEO Planned Parenthood Los Angeles,\u00a0asking for PPE donations. It reads in part, “In order to continue to meet the needs of the women, men, families, and communities who rely on Planned Parenthood… In order to keep our patients, staff, and sites moving through this emergency, we need all of the same supplies you are hearing about on the news. As gloves, masks, and medications run low<\/strong>, we are doing all that we can to procure supplies for the essential care our community is depending on us to provide.”<\/p>\n

Planned Parenthood Keystone also posted several requests<\/a>\u00a0for PPE to Facebook. The PP Keystone affiliate\u00a0operates<\/a>\u00a0facilities which commit<\/a> abortions, among other things.<\/p>\n

ABC27 in Pennsylvania\u00a0reported<\/a>\u00a0the fact that pro-life groups are speaking against Planned Parenthood’s actions:<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is unacceptable,\u201d says Michael Geer, President of the Pennsylvania Family Institute. \u201cPlanned Parenthood is now 100% abortion \u2013 willing to put further strain on our health system and risk increasing the spread of this virus so they can still profit from their main service revenue stream of elective abortions.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Planned Parenthood Keystone has also indicated online<\/a> that they are not<\/strong> offering “family planning,” leading some to conclude that the only thing they are currently offering is abortion. They are still open<\/a> in several locations and each of the facilities listed offers abortions.<\/p>\n

To ensure the health and safety of our patients, staff, and community, Planned Parenthood Keystone has temporarily closed all of its health centers for family planning visits effective March 23, 2020. At this time, Planned Parenthood Keystone is serving patients in Allentown, Wilkes-Barre, Warminster, Reading, York, and Harrisburg for abortion services only.<\/em><\/p>\n

A separate affiliate in the state, Planned Parenthood Southeastern Pennsylvania, wrote on their Facebook page<\/a>, “For the safety of our staff and patients, Planned Parenthood Southeastern Pennsylvania health centers are temporarily CLOSED, beginning March 25, 2020. This does NOT include abortion services in Center City, Far Northeast, Norristown, and West Chester<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n

There is no indication whether PPSE will receive PPE donations from PP Keystone.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlanned Parenthood has the nerve right now to ask for donations of masks, surgical hats and hand sanitizer \u2013 scarce resources needed by Pennsylvania hospitals treating patients with COVID-19 \u2013 so that they can be used to perform elective abortions,\u201d Emily Kreps, Legal Assistant for the Pennsylvania Family Institute told<\/a> ABC27. \u201cOur state officials need to lead by example. If we\u2019re serious about stopping the spread of the coronavirus, then stop all elective abortions by Planned Parenthood or any other abortion clinic.\u201d<\/p>\n

Live Action News has documented<\/a> that while some states recognize that abortion — the taking of innocent human life — is not an essential service, other states<\/a> across the nation are giving abortion facilities a pass, allowing them to use precious resources to remain open. Today, pro-lifers took to social media<\/a> to call<\/a>\u00a0for state authorities to shut abortion and Planned Parenthood facilities down.<\/p>\n
