In the window outside was\u00a0M\u00edche\u00e1l&#8217;s father, who was seeing his grandson for the first time. What should have been a joyous occasion was obviously bittersweet; Michael Gallagher, the grandfather outside, looks more sad than celebratory.<\/p>\n<div class=\"video-container\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Three generations of social distancing as my dad meets his grandson for the first time ??? <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/uyHHgBBXxb\">pic.twitter.com\/uyHHgBBXxb<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Emma (@emmabethgall) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/emmabethgall\/status\/1241470477459230722?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 21, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p>The baby boy, Faol\u00e1n, was born March 14, just after officials in Ireland began encouraging people to keep their distance from others. \u201cBy the time we were leaving everything was closing,&#8221;\u00a0M\u00edche\u00e1l \u00d3 Gallach\u00f3ir <a href=\"https:\/\/www.meathchronicle.ie\/news\/roundup\/articles\/2020\/03\/25\/4187855-meeting-first-grandchild-through-a-window\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told the Meath Chronicle<\/a>. &#8220;We were told at the hospital to boil wash everything we had been wearing in the hospital and to isolate. We cannot have people holding him and the only other person allowed in the house is the public health nurse. I am on paternity leave at the moment, but when it is over I can work from home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>None of Faol\u00e1n&#8217;s grandparents have been able to hold him. M\u00edche\u00e1l \u00d3 Gallach\u00f3ir likewise <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/news\/social-affairs\/image-of-meeting-between-newborn-and-grandfather-goes-viral-1.4211878\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told the Irish Times<\/a> of the effect it&#8217;s having on his parents, explaining, &#8220;I know my mam has cried a few times about not being able to hold him. It\u2019s their first grandchild.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/grammy-winner-alicia-keys-mom-chose-life\/\"><em>Almost aborted, Grammy winner Alicia Keys\u2019 mom chose life: \u2018I am so grateful to her for choosing me\u2019<\/em><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is hard not being able to go into him and hold him, but they are all healthy and doing well and that is the most important thing,\u201d Gallagher, a Sinn Fein member of Meath County Council, said in another interview with the Meath Chronicle. \u201cThis whole situation with the virus is so dangerous, that it is a small price to pay. It is disappointing that we cannot visit him, but it won&#8217;t last forever and we are looking forward to when we do get to see him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Millions of people around the world are fighting to protect and save as many lives as they can during the coronavirus outbreak. But meanwhile, <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/states-demand-surgical-abortions-stopped-covid-19\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">abortion businesses have remained open<\/a>, while others have argued that <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/coronavirus-panic-exposes-selective-concern-human\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">elderly lives are more expendable<\/a>.
