The pro-abortion media shows the same lack of concern not only for how many women now die from legal abortion, but for a woman&#8217;s overall safety. Media repeatedly either fails to investigate the abortion industry or minimizes reports of injuries and questionable and even illegal practices within abortion businesses. But the fact remains that the abortion industry has always been a danger to women, and continues to be, to this day.<\/p>\n<p>Live Action News&#8217; series on how journalists once actually believed it necessary to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/time-journalists-expose-abortion-industry-again\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">investigate<\/a> the abortion industry introduced a 1978 series published by The Chicago Sun-Times. The five-month investigation sent\u00a0reporters\u00a0and researchers undercover into Chicago\u2019s \u201cthriving abortion business.\u201d In part one, we <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/journalists-exposed-abortion-profiteers-assembly-line\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">documented<\/a> what the paper referred to as &#8220;the abortion assembly line.&#8221; In part two, we\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/journalists-exposed-abortion-profiteers-car-salesmen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">detailed<\/a> the abortion profiteers, including one who was a used car salesman. In part three, Live Action News detailed the &#8220;business&#8221; of <em>selling<\/em> abortions. Here, we will review\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/sites.dlib.nyu.edu\/undercover\/sites\/dlib.nyu.edu.undercover\/files\/documents\/uploads\/editors\/ChiSunTimes_1978Nov19_1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">part seven<\/a> of the Chicago Sun Times series, headlined, &#8220;12 dead after abortions in state&#8217;s walk-in clinics.&#8221; The first thing to note is how quickly journalists discovered that while health department officials did not know of one single abortion-related death, there were in fact <em>a dozen women who had died<\/em> following legal abortion procedures at Chicago facilities.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_220255\" style=\"width: 784px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-220255\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-220255\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Abortion-Profiteers-Chicago-Sun-Times-part-seven-12-women-dead-after-abortion.jpg\" alt=\"Image: Abortion Profiteers Chicago Sun Times part seven 12 women dead after abortion\" width=\"774\" height=\"413\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Abortion-Profiteers-Chicago-Sun-Times-part-seven-12-women-dead-after-abortion.jpg 774w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Abortion-Profiteers-Chicago-Sun-Times-part-seven-12-women-dead-after-abortion-300x160.jpg 300w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Abortion-Profiteers-Chicago-Sun-Times-part-seven-12-women-dead-after-abortion-768x410.jpg 768w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Abortion-Profiteers-Chicago-Sun-Times-part-seven-12-women-dead-after-abortion-700x374.jpg 700w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Abortion-Profiteers-Chicago-Sun-Times-part-seven-12-women-dead-after-abortion-500x267.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 774px) 100vw, 774px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-220255\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Abortion Profiteers Chicago Sun Times part seven 12 women dead after abortion<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The women below were identified by the paper as those who died following their abortions.<\/p>\n<p>Friendship Medical Center:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Evelyn Dudley &#8211; hemorrhage, 3\/16\/1973<\/li>\n<li>Julie Rogers &#8211; hemorrhage, 3\/28\/1973<\/li>\n<li>Dorothy Brown &#8211; bled to death, 8\/16\/1974<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Women&#8217;s Aid abortion facility:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dorothy Muzarow &#8211; hemorrhage, 8\/23\/1973<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Prebirth, Inc.:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Linda Fondeen &#8211; massive internal infection, 1\/20\/1974<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Associated Concern facility:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Mrs. Floyd &#8211; unspecified, 3\/28\/1975<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Biogenetics Ltd.:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sandra Lynn Chmiel &#8211; massive bleeding from punctured uterus, 6\/3\/1975<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Water Tower Reproductive Center:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sherry Emry: ruptured ectopic pregnancy, 1\/2\/1978<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Unidentified persons or causes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Name not given: blood clot, 1975<\/li>\n<li>Name not given: inflammation of the heart, 1975<\/li>\n<li>Diane Smith: 9\/11\/1976<\/li>\n<li>Name not given: perforated uterus, 1977<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The paper went into detail about how the\u00a0Water Tower Reproductive Center, operated by abortionist Arnold Bickham, skirted health code requirements to save money. They claim this may have led to the failure to discover that Sherry Emry had an ectopic pregnancy which led to her death. Their investigators found the abortion facility had:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tossed out aborted remains rather than shipping to the pathologist.<\/li>\n<li>Failed to empty the bottles that contain aborted remains between patients.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Other facilities were found by the paper&#8217;s undercover investigators to have:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Handled aborted tissue carelessly.<\/li>\n<li>Failed to share results with patients even if they called for emergency medical attention.<\/li>\n<li>Filed lab tests for Medicaid patients but not cash patients.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Even today, pro-lifers continue to document the horrific ways women are treated by abortion profiteers and how women still continue to die from legal abortion.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cheating the taxpayer\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Live Action News has previously\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-cited-medicaid-fraud-still-getting-taxpayer-funding\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">documented<\/a> ways that Medicaid <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/audit-records-reveal-overbilling-potential-fraud-planned-parenthood\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fraud<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/media-paints-planned-parenthood-victim-fraud-abuse\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">abuse<\/a> within the abortion industry occurs today. It <a href=\"http:\/\/sites.dlib.nyu.edu\/undercover\/sites\/dlib.nyu.edu.undercover\/files\/documents\/uploads\/editors\/ChiSunTimes_1978Nov20_1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">begins<\/a>, &#8220;Chicago&#8217;s abortion profiteers are padding their profits with Medicaid funds illegally obtained through kickbacks and fraudulent billing schemes.
