UPDATE, 9\/9\/21:<\/strong>\u00a0The study sponsor, Gynuity Health Projects terminated the experimental trial<\/a> in July of 2021<\/a>, citing “difficulties with recruitment, COVID 19 pandemic.”<\/p>\n

3\/2\/20:<\/strong> In a previous<\/a>\u00a0report,\u00a0Live Action News\u00a0documented a\u00a0clinical trial<\/a>\u00a0which is\u00a0recruiting<\/a>\u00a0children and adult women\u00a0for\u00a0late-term\u00a0<\/strong>abortions from 13-22 weeks<\/strong>\u00a0in the West African nation of\u00a0Burkina Faso<\/a>. Now, the abortion industry is targeting Latin American women in Colombia for a\u00a0clinical trial<\/a>\u00a0dispensing the abortion pill from 13 to 18 weeks gestation.\u00a0Both trials are sponsored by Gynuity\u00a0Health Projects, which has been\u00a0working to <\/span>expand abortion<\/span><\/a>. Currently, the abortion pill is only approved for abortion up to 10 weeks of pregnancy.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Colombia study, which has not yet begun to recruit, seeks to “evaluate the safety, acceptability and feasibility of a shortened outpatient procedure for medical abortion at 13-18 weeks gestation. It also seeks to document the roles of health workers in providing services related to later abortion care.”<\/p>\n

Gynuity is <\/span>funded<\/span><\/a> (see <\/span>here<\/span><\/a>) by abortion pill manufacturer DANCO\u2019s <\/span>original business<\/span><\/a> investors<\/span><\/a>, the <\/span>Packard Foundation<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>Buffett Foundation<\/span><\/a>, as <\/span>well<\/span><\/a> as the<\/span> Population Council<\/span><\/a>. Packard\u2019s money trail to Gynuity appears to have been\u00a0scrubbed<\/a>\u00a0from Gynuity’s site, but remains online in a cached<\/a> version. Gynuity is also <\/span>funded<\/a> by Ibis Reproductive Health (see <\/span>2017 990<\/a> report), an organization that is directly <\/span>funded<\/a> by DANCO Laboratories. The circular money trail is extremely concerning and has yet to be investigated by any<\/em> mainstream media outlets.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Colombia trial will take place at Fundaci\u00f3n Ori\u00e9ntame, described<\/a>\u00a0in 2014 by California Sunday as “a network of abortion resources that could be described as Latin America\u2019s equivalent of Planned Parenthood… helping to create more than 600 clinics in ten Latin American countries and for reshaping abortion politics across the continent….”<\/p>\n

“In 1990, their board of directors formed a second nonprofit called Fundaci\u00f3n Educaci\u00f3n Para la Salud Reproductiva (ESAR<\/abbr>),” California Sunday noted. “They designed it to function somewhat like a franchise, helping doctors, nurses, and midwives in other Latin American countries set up their own Ori\u00e9ntame clinics.”<\/p>\n

According to the article<\/a>:<\/p>\n

[…M]ost of\u00a0ESAR<\/abbr>\u2019s roughly $500,000 budget came from private donors, including the Packard Foundation<\/strong>; in 2001, following a shift in organizational strategy, Packard announced that it would cease all funding….One of her donors introduced her to a large American foundation spending hundreds of millions of dollars on international reproductive-health work. (The foundation donates on a condition of anonymity.) Several years of courtship followed. Finally, in 2008, the foundation came through with a multimillion-dollar grant, increasing\u00a0ESAR<\/abbr>\u2019s budget tenfold.<\/em><\/p>\n

This\u00a02008 tax document<\/a> indicates the “anonymous” funder is the Tides Foundation, which gave the Latin abortion chain $550,000. In 2010, the Tides Foundation also\u00a0funded<\/a> an international conference on abortion pill expansion along with IBIS, Planned Parenthood, and the National Abortion Federation.<\/p>\n

The Colombia trial will be managed by\u00a0Fundaci\u00f3n Ori\u00e9ntame staffers Maria Mercedes Vivas and\u00a0Juliette Ortiz, as well as Gynuity staffers\u00a0Ilana G. Dzuba and founder Beverly Winikoff. According to an online bio, “Before starting<\/a> Gynuity in 2003, Dr. Winikoff was employed for 25 years at the Population Council<\/span><\/a> where she was Program Director for Reproductive Health and a Senior Medical Associate.” The <\/span>Population Council,<\/span><\/a> a eugenics based organization,\u00a0<\/span>brought<\/span><\/a> the abortion pill into the U.S. and set up the pill\u2019s manufacturer,\u00a0DANCO Laboratories, LLC<\/a>. Ironically,\u00a0<\/span>Winikoff<\/span><\/a>\u00a0has also had a <\/span>previous contract<\/span><\/a> with DANCO. <\/span><\/p>\n

Gynuity is also behind the controversial \u201c<\/span>menstrual regulation<\/span><\/a>\u201d experiments as well as a\u00a0<\/span>TelAbortion <\/span><\/a>clinical trial. Live Action News previously<\/a> documented how Gynuity’s TelAbortion<\/a> trial functions more like<\/span>\u00a0a Trojan horse by expanding into additional states, extending the deadline and adding participants, all in an effort to skirt important safety regulations put in place under the FDA.\u00a0As of the\u00a0date<\/a>\u00a0of this article (March 1, 2020) the now defined \u201ccase-only\u201d (instead of \u201ccohort\u201d)\u00a0clinical trial<\/a>\u00a0currently intends to enroll\u00a01,000 participants with age\u00a0eligibility<\/a>\u00a0as young as\u00a010 years old<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 Many of these pill experiments\u00a0will take place at <\/span>Packard-funded<\/a> Carafem <\/span>abortion facilities<\/a>\u00a0as well as <\/span>Packard<\/a> and <\/span>Buffett-<\/span><\/a>funded<\/a> Planned Parenthood<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
