The news agency also noted that \u201cItaly\u2019s population had risen virtually every year since World War I, hitting a peak in 2015 at 60.8 million, but has since started to decline.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Life expectancy has increased to 85.3 years for Italian women and 81 years for Italian men. The decrease in births and increase in life expectancy has resulted in an average age of 45.7.<\/p>\n<p>When the low number of Italian births for 2018 was reported, then-interior minister Matteo Salvini said, \u201cWe are in a terrible state.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/italy-90-percent-doctors-refuse-abortions\/\">In parts of Italy, 90 percent of doctors refuse to commit abortions<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the real crisis (in Italy), not the bond yield spreads or the economic crisis.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Italian-American Beverly Stevens, editor of Regina magazine, told LifeSiteNews that the sexual revolution is to blame for the low Italian birth rate.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/mnmwAr0xBOM\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt&#8217;s a perfect storm, aimed straight at the heart of the Great Italian Bulwark, la famiglia (the family),\u201d she said via social media.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt started when the sexual revolution legitimized male philandering. Suddenly, wives found themselves outclassed by girlfriends and divorced,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis destabilized the next generation, depriving boys of role models and hardening girls&#8217; hearts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Stevens said that contemporary Italian women believe \u201cfervently\u201d in a feminism that has doomed them to unstable marriages or living alone.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd their men protest the fact that they are alone on Christmas in Rome&#8217;s piazzas because the ex won&#8217;t allow them access to their kids,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNobody wins. Families fail to form. Italians strive endlessly to show a &#8216;bella figura&#8217; (beautiful face, i.e. keep up appearances) as they age relentlessly, alone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s cultural-level
