margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>At a time when abortion industry leader Planned Parenthood is gearing up to again <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-black-organizing-program-targets-population\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">promote<\/a> an abortion agenda involving women of color, the Centers for Disease Control has released <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/mmwr\/volumes\/68\/ss\/pdfs\/ss6811a1-H.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">data<\/a>\u00a0showing that the Black abortion rate is currently <em>3.8 times greater<\/em> than the white abortion rate and <em>2.15 times higher<\/em> than the Hispanic\u00a0abortion rate.<\/p>\n<p>These numbers reveal how abortion is disproportionately targeting the Black community.<\/p>\n<p>Although two agencies have recently published national abortion data &#8212; Guttmacher (<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/us-abortion-rate-lowest-roe-v-wade\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2017<\/a>) and CDC (<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortions-highest-percentage-black-women-2000\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2016<\/a>) &#8212; only the CDC has at this time updated its data on <em>race and ethnicity<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The CDC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/mmwr\/volumes\/68\/ss\/pdfs\/ss6811a1-H.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reports<\/a> that, for its most recently reported year (2016):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Non-Hispanic Black women accounted for\u00a0<strong>38%<\/strong>\u00a0of all reported abortions.<\/li>\n<li>Non-Hispanic white women accounted for\u00a0<strong>35%<\/strong>\u00a0of all reported abortions.<\/li>\n<li>Hispanic women accounted for\u00a0<strong>18.8%<\/strong>\u00a0of all reported abortions.<\/li>\n<li>Other races accounted for\u00a0<strong>8.2%\u00a0<\/strong>of all reported abortions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Despite the Black community making up just 12 percent of the U.S. population, Black women also had the <em>highest number<\/em> of reported abortions out of the 32 reporting areas, according to the CDC (see both charts below).<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_218667\" style=\"width: 949px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-218667\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-218667 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/CDC-abortions.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"939\" height=\"222\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/CDC-abortions.jpg 939w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/CDC-abortions-300x71.jpg 300w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/CDC-abortions-768x182.jpg 768w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/CDC-abortions-700x165.jpg 700w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/CDC-abortions-500x118.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 939px) 100vw, 939px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-218667\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">CDC abortions<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The CDC data also reveals that the Black abortion rate (abortions per 1,000 women aged 15\u201344 years) exceeded all other races:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Black abortion rate: <strong><em>25.1<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Hispanic abortion rate: <em>11.7<\/em><\/li>\n<li>White abortion rate: <em>6.6<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This means that the Black abortion rate was\u00a0<em>3.8 times higher than the white abortion rate<\/em>\u00a0(25.1 v. 6.6) and\u00a0<em>2.15 times higher than the Hispanic<\/em>\u00a0<em>abortion rate\u00a0<\/em>(25.1 v. 11.7).<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_218630\" style=\"width: 710px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-218630\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-218630 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/CDC-Abortions-by-race-ethnicity-2016-Black-Hispanic-700x361.jpg\" alt=\"Image: CDC Abortions by race ethnicity 2016 Black Hispanic\" width=\"700\" height=\"361\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/CDC-Abortions-by-race-ethnicity-2016-Black-Hispanic-700x361.jpg 700w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/CDC-Abortions-by-race-ethnicity-2016-Black-Hispanic-300x155.jpg 300w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/CDC-Abortions-by-race-ethnicity-2016-Black-Hispanic-500x258.jpg 500w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/CDC-Abortions-by-race-ethnicity-2016-Black-Hispanic.jpg 761w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-218630\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">CDC Abortions by race ethnicity 2016 Black abortion rate ratio<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Using just the 32 reporting areas for race\/ethnicity, CDC also noted that Blacks had the highest abortion ratio (abortions per 1,000 live births):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Black: <em><strong>401\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n<li>Hispanic: 156<\/li>\n<li>White: 109<\/li>\n<li>Other: 207<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This means that the Black\u00a0<strong>abortion ratio<\/strong>\u00a0was\u00a0<em>nearly 3.7 times higher<\/em>\u00a0than the white abortion ratio (401 v. 109) and\u00a0<em>more than 2.5 times higher<\/em>\u00a0than Hispanic abortion ratio (401 v. 156).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/eVsCRA_qJmU\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Just as the Black community has been targeted in the past by predatory industries <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/1989\/05\/01\/business\/the-media-business-an-uproar-over-billboards-in-poor-areas.html\">including<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sacbee.com\/opinion\/op-ed\/article227429344.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Big Tobacco<\/a>\u00a0and alcohol, today<em>,<\/em>\u00a0the\u00a0pro-life community can document the clear and disproportionate way abortion targets the Black community. Notable\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/black-pro-life-women-abortion-genocide\/\">Black leaders<\/a>\u00a0of the past \u2014\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/black-pro-life-women-abortion-genocide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fannie Lou Hamer<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/15-women-prove-black-pro-life-neither-rare-ignorant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dr. Mildred Jefferson<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/grier-pro-life-black-genocide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dr. Dolores Bernadette Grier<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/15-women-prove-black-pro-life-neither-rare-ignorant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Iowa Rep. June Franklin<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/hyde-amendment-was-supported-by-black-civil-rights-leaders\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Erma Clardy Craven<\/a>, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/books.google.com\/books?id=ntwDAAAAMBAJ&amp;pg=PA70&amp;dq=genocide,+abortion&amp;hl=en&amp;sa=X&amp;ved=0ahUKEwj2t6mznLHZAhVKMqwKHfktB0U4HhDoAQgqMAE#v=onepage&amp;q=genocide%2C%20abortion&amp;f=false\">even<\/a>\u00a0comedian\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/dick-gregory-government-funded-abortion-birth-control-programs-equals-genocide-blacks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dick Gregory<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 warned us that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/thousands-opposed-pro-abortion-now-women\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">abortion<\/a>\u00a0would become a tool of\u00a0<em>Black genocide.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>If we estimate the total number of abortions by extrapolating using the CDC\u2019s percentages for race\/ethnicity and multiplying it against reported abortions in all 48 reporting areas: (623,471 reported in 2016 x Non-Hispanic black abortion percentage of 38%) = 236,919 (<em>estimated<\/em>) abortions annually. Live Action News also\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortions-dropped-50-percent-1980-cdc-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">previously<\/a>\u00a0documented that in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/mmwr\/volumes\/68\/ss\/pdfs\/ss6811a1-H.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2016<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Black people made up just 12 percent of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kff.org\/other\/state-indicator\/distribution-by-raceethnicity\/?dataView=0&amp;currentTimeframe=2&amp;selectedDistributions=black&amp;sortModel=%7B%22colId%22:%22Location%22,%22sort%22:%22asc%22%7D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U.S. population<\/a>\u00a0but accounted for 38 percent of reported abortions.<\/li>\n<li>Black abortions (<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortions-highest-percentage-black-women-2000\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">236,919 estimated<\/a>) outnumbered the\u00a0<strong>top nine leading causes<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>of\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/nchs\/data\/dvs\/lcwk\/lcwk1_hr_2016.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>death<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(235,139)\u00a0for Black Americans combined.<\/li>\n<li>Estimated Black abortion numbers were\u00a0<em>24 times greater than homicides<\/em>\u00a0committed on Black Americans (236,919 v. 9,860) that same year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Nationally, in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/nchs\/data\/nvsr\/nvsr67\/nvsr67_01.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2016<\/a>\u00a0there were 558,622 live births to non-Hispanic Black women (1,530 live births per day), while that same year and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortions-highest-percentage-black-women-2000\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">estimated<\/a>\u00a0<em>649<\/em> Black babies were killed by abortion. In just one year, abortion\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/aborting-black-babies-martin-luther-king\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">snuffs out<\/a>\u00a0approximately the same <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/aborting-black-babies-martin-luther-king\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">number<\/a> as those gathered to listen to <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/timing-planned-parenthoods-1966-award-mlk-suspicious\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.&#8217;s (MLK)<\/a> iconic &#8220;I Have a Dream&#8221; speech. Tragically, due to ongoing targeting of Black babies by abortion, we now\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/progress-decade-7-million-children-aborted\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">estimate<\/a>\u00a0that between\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/mmwr\/preview\/mmwrhtml\/ss6208a1.htm?s_cid=ss6208a1_w\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2010<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortions-highest-percentage-black-women-2000\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2016<\/a>, over 1.7 million Black babies lost their lives to abortion.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/liveactionnewsonline\/\">\u201cLike\u201d Live Action News on Facebook<\/a> for more pro-life news and commentary!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At a time when abortion industry leader Planned Parenthood is gearing up to again promote an abortion agenda involving women of color, the Centers for Disease Control has released data\u00a0showing that the Black abortion rate is currently 3.8 times greater than the white abortion rate and 2.15 times higher than the Hispanic\u00a0abortion rate.
