Rose stated:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>TikTok has rightfully reinstated Live Action\u2019s account. We received an email from TikTok at 11:29 AM PT\/2:29 pm ET apologizing for what TikTok is calling &#8216;human error&#8217;. They admitted that our account \u201cis not in violation of any of our Community Guidelines.\u201d Tiktok must improve their training and oversight to ensure that such dramatic &#8216;human errors&#8217; like this aren\u2019t made in the future for us or any other pro-life organization. <\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>We contacted TikTok yesterday asking for an answer and resolution and only after we escalated the problem, did they finally reinstate the account. Not every pro-life American has the reach that Live Action has to sound the alarm on censorship and viewpoint discrimination.\u00a0What we saw today is the power of social media, the pro-life movement, and news outlets in doing their job to call out pro-life viewpoint discrimination. Now, go follow us on TikTok.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>UPDATE, 1\/31, 2:42p EST:<\/strong> After the original publication of this article, Live Action received an email from TikTok claiming that the @liveactionorg account &#8220;was incorrectly removed due to human error&#8221; and is again active:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>We&#8217;re writing to let you know that your account was incorrectly removed due to a human error. After re-reviewing your account, we have concluded that your account is not in violation of any of our Community Guidelines. This means that your account is back up and active. We apologize for the error.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>As stated in the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LilaGraceRose\/status\/1223328771203203072\">tweet<\/a> below from Live Action president Lila Rose, TikTok provided comment to outside news outlets on the purported &#8220;human error&#8221; before they communicated anything to Live Action about the ban:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-217756\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Lila-tweet-TikTok.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"541\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Lila-tweet-TikTok.jpg 480w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Lila-tweet-TikTok-266x300.jpg 266w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>1\/31:<\/strong> On January 30, 2020, social media platform <a href=\"http:\/\/tiktok.com\">TikTok<\/a> banned Live Action for unspecified \u201cCommunity Guidelines violations.\u201d <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Live Action joined the platform in 2019 to reach TikTok\u2019s young demographic, 41% of which is<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.globalwebindex.com\/trends\/tiktok-music-social-media\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">between the ages of 16 and 24<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. This was Live Action&#8217;s first notice of violation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Below is a timeline of events:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>1:26pm EST:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Live Action posted a 15 second <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/f.io\/fkFAcRqp\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">video<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, in which a woman is briefly shown looking at the screen with captions that read: \u201cBe pro-abortion\u201d and \u201cBe pro-life and help save babies.\u201d <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The video follows a popular <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/f.io\/8hGyrKdo\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">TikTok trend<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> where a person is shown choosing between two jellybeans to eat.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The remainder of the video consisted of positive social media posts from Live Action followers, sharing their personal stories of choosing life. No content within the video displayed any graphic images, violent content, political advocacy, or any other materials that could be reasonably deemed as offensive.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>2:30pm EST:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> TikTok notified Live Action that the video violated <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/community-guidelines?lang=en\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Community Guidelines<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and removed the video. Live Action immediately appealed. See that video below:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/mrgOCLQx4xU\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>3:00pm EST:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Live Action received notice from TikTok that the @liveactionorg account &#8220;was banned due to multiple Community Guidelines violations.\u201d No further explanation was given for this decision.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-217704\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/TikTok-ban-1-616x700.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"455\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/TikTok-ban-1-616x700.jpg 616w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/TikTok-ban-1-264x300.jpg 264w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/TikTok-ban-1-500x568.jpg 500w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/TikTok-ban-1.jpg 742w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Live Action had grown to over 21,000 active followers on TikTok since joining in August of 2019:<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_217705\" style=\"width: 293px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-217705\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-217705\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/TikTok-screenshot-21k-followers.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"283\" height=\"487\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/TikTok-screenshot-21k-followers.jpg 283w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/TikTok-screenshot-21k-followers-174x300.jpg 174w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 283px) 100vw, 283px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-217705\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Screenshot showing 21k followers on TikTok<\/p><\/div>\n<p>While TikTok\u2019s Community Guidelines prohibit \u201cviolent and graphic content,\u201d the platform often permits videos that simulate brutal harm to preborn infants, which can be seen in the video below (warning: may be sensitive for viewers):<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fliveaction%2Fvideos%2F134157661043286%2F&amp;show_text=0&amp;width=476\" width=\"476\" height=\"476\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is not the first time a social media platform has banned or suppressed Live Action&#8217;s content. In 2017, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/live-action-strikes-back-after-twitter-bans-their-emily-zanotti\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Twitter<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> banned Live Action from advertising on the platform, claiming Live Action&#8217;s material is \u201csensitive.\u201d That ban is still in effect. In 2018, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/pro-life-group-sends-cease-204451608.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">YouTube<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> began suppressing Live Action videos. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When a pro-abortion writer complained about finding pro-life videos on the video sharing site, YouTube altered its search results so that Live Action\u2019s \u201cAbortion Procedures\u201d videos no longer appeared within the top 150 results.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> In June of 2019, Live Action was banned by <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/pinterest-censorship-timeline-events-live-action-ban\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pinterest<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> after a whistleblower exposed the platform\u2019s internal decision to place Live Action on its blocked \u201cpornography\u201d list. Social media giant <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Facebook<\/span>&#8216;s<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0third party &#8220;fact checkers&#8221;\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/facebook-fact-check-misrepresented-live-actions-position\/\">also deemed Live Action content \u201cfalse\u201d<\/a> in 2019 for agreeing with thousands of medical professionals that abortion &#8212; the intentional killing of a human being in the womb &#8212; is <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/pro-life-replies-abortion-never-medically-necessary\/\">never medically necessary<\/a>. \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Live Action\u2019s social media presence is the largest of any pro-life organization, with over 4 million followers. Big Tech\u2019s social media censorship undermines Live Action\u2019s ability to deliver its content, which aims to inform the public about abortion and expose the fraudulent and corrupt practices of the abortion industry. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Many have also argued that Big Tech\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/opinion\/technology\/434407-conservatives-face-a-tough-fight-as-big-techs-censorship-expands\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">censorship<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">practices pose a grave threat to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/watch\/?v=2389230074470495\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">freedom of speech<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for all social media users.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Live Action president Lila Rose <a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/tiktokban\/\">stated in response<\/a> to TikTok&#8217;s ban:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8230; Live Action\u2019s videos shared baby photos and videos and highlighted the illogic of the pro-abortion movement. At the same time, TikTok allows pro-abortion accounts and videos to remain on the platform, videos like <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@ohkbuddie\/video\/6748929728121441542?u_code=0&amp;preview_pb=0&amp;language=en&amp;timestamp=1580422316&amp;utm_campaign=client_share&amp;app=musically&amp;utm_medium=ios&amp;tt_from=copy&amp;utm_source=copy&amp;source=h5_m\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">this<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that simulate brutal harm to preborn or born infants. Live Action appealed TikTok\u2019s decision to remove one of our videos and within a half hour our account was completely removed on the platform. No more account, no more videos. This is blatant viewpoint discrimination and an egregious attempt to silence pro-life voices.
