Abortion on Black babies in the womb does not keep Dr. Martin Luther King\u2019s dream alive. In August of 1963, approximately 250,000 people gathered in Washington, D.C., to listen to the civil rights leader’s iconic \u201cI Have a Dream\u201d speech. Tragically, today, approximately that same number of Black Americans are killed by legal abortion every year.<\/p>\n

Live Action News previously<\/a> noted that, in the most recent report (2016) from the Centers for Disease Control, Black women accounted for\u00a038 percent of reported abortions<\/strong>, while population estimates for\u00a02016<\/a>\u00a0show that African Americans made up just 12 percent<\/em> of the population.\u00a0Depending on the source of statistics used, this means that an estimated 236,919 estimated (CDC\/2016<\/a>) to\u00a0259,336 (Guttmacher\/2014<\/a>) Black babies died from abortion in just one year. Guttmacher has not yet released data by race for 2017 yet. In addition, CDC data reveals that, in 2016, Black abortions (236,919 estimated) outnumbered the\u00a0top nine leading causes<\/strong>\u00a0of\u00a0<\/strong>death<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(235,139)\u00a0for Black Americans combined.<\/p>\n

Multiply this by 47 years of legalized abortion, and it appears to be a terrible act of Black genocide.<\/p>\n

Sadly, the tragedy did not begin with abortion. Live Action News has\u00a0documented<\/a>\u00a0how Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger and many of her\u00a0board members<\/a>\u00a0were deeply entrenched in the racist philosophy of eugenics. Among those were\u00a0Lothrop Stoddard,<\/a>\u00a0identified<\/a>\u00a0as Exalted Cyclops of the Massachusetts chapter of the Ku Klux Klan,\u00a0as well as Planned Parenthood\u2019s first physician president,\u00a0Alan F. Guttmacher<\/a>\u00a0(after whom the Guttmacher Institute is named). Both men pushed population control methods that targeted Black Americans.<\/p>\n

While Sanger (a member of the Eugenics Society who\u00a0admitted<\/a>\u00a0to meeting with members of the Klan) was a vocal proponent of\u00a0eugenic sterilization,<\/a>\u00a0Guttmacher (a former VP of the Eugenics Society) suggested voluntary methods like abortion would be a better tool. Despite the marketing hype, after their name change, Planned Parenthood\u00a0itself<\/a>\u00a0was\u00a0steeped<\/a>\u00a0in the\u00a0eugenics community<\/a>, taking free rent from eugenics organizations.<\/p>\n

Planned Parenthood likes to claim that MLK supported their work because, in 1966, he was awarded Planned Parenthood\u2019s infamous\u00a0Margaret Sanger award<\/a>. But a\u00a0look at a timeline<\/a>\u00a0leading up to the decision\u00a0reveals that Planned Parenthood may have had an ulterior motive for granting him the award. A 1966 internal memo from Alan Guttmacher and\u00a0Fred Jaffe<\/a>\u00a0outlined the plan for winning over the Black community. The memo begins by calling the new plan a \u201cCommunity Relations Program.\u201d The \u201cprogram\u201d is to \u201cform a liaison between Planned Parenthood and minority organizations<\/strong>\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>and will emphasize that \u201call people have the opportunity to make their own choices,\u201d rather than, as the memo states,\u00a0\u201cexhortation telling them how many children they should have<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n
