However, during an undercover call to the Hilltop abortion facility in El Paso, Abortion Free New Mexico discovered that the clinic manager and nurse, Gloria Martinez, has been administering the abortion pill. The undercover call can be heard in the clip below.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/D6TtQw-5Lbk\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Caller: &#8220;&#8230;But definitely then on Monday I&#8217;d be able to see Ms. Martinez? She could give me the pills and that&#8217;s fine, right?&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Hilltop: &#8220;Yes.&#8221; [&#8230;]<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Caller: &#8220;Now if I did need to have a followup surgical procedure, could she do that for me as well?&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Hilltop: &#8220;&#8230;that would be done by Dr. Theard?&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Caller: &#8220;Okay. So she only administers the abortion pill?&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Hilltop: &#8220;Yes, ma&#8217;am.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-fights-non-physicians-commit-surgical-abortions\/\">Planned Parenthood, ACLU fight to allow non-physicians to commit surgical abortions<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The caller is instructed that the abortion pill will cost $550 and that Martinez is able to give that to her. <a href=\"https:\/\/statutes.capitol.texas.gov\/Docs\/HS\/htm\/HS.171.htm\">Texas Health and Safety Code Sec. 171.003<\/a> states &#8220;An abortion may be performed only by a physician licensed to practice medicine in this state.&#8221; Furthermore, Sec 171.063 (1) says &#8220;the person who gives, sells, dispenses, administers, provides, or prescribes the abortion-inducing drug is a physician.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico said her organization has submitted a complaint to the Attorney General of Texas and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scribd.com\/document\/442923460\/Gloria-Martinez-Nursing-Board-Complaint\">Texas Nursing Board<\/a>. Last year, the pro-life group also filed a complaint against Hilltop&#8217;s facility in Santa Theresa, New Mexico, for not having the proper equipment to comply with FDA regulations. Those regulations require the use of equipment to check for and diagnose ectopic pregnancies before administering the abortion pill.
