In it, a loving big brother cradled his newborn brother, who has Down syndrome, and sang Dan + Shay&#8217;s &#8220;10,000 Hours&#8221; to him. It&#8217;s yet another poignant reminder that love doesn&#8217;t count chromosomes.<\/p>\n<p>The boys&#8217; mother, Nicole Powell, posted the video in December. &#8220;This is how Rayce bonds with Tripp,&#8221; she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/nicole.powell.73\/videos\/2974975792515302\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote on Facebook<\/a>. &#8220;He sings to him all the time. He swear this song is about him and his brother. He\u2019s singing, &#8216;I\u2019d spend 10,000 hours, and 10,000 more if that\u2019s what it takes to learn that sweet heart of yours. I might never get there but I\u2019m going to try if it\u2019s 10,000 hours or the rest of my life, I\u2019m going to love you.&#8217; Love doesn\u2019t count chromosomes, or as Rayce says, &#8216;Aren\u2019t we all different?'&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fnicole.powell.73%2Fvideos%2F2974975792515302%2F&amp;show_text=0&amp;width=267\" width=\"267\" height=\"476\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thv11.com\/amp\/article\/news\/local\/cabot-boy-sings-to-baby-brother-with-down-syndrome\/91-890f13d3-2b47-4def-b548-c3f075a4257b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">an interview with local news affiliate THV11<\/a>, the Powells explained the difficult process of getting to the happy place they are now, with doctors saying Tripp would have a very poor quality of life. &#8220;They recommended we terminate the pregnancy, and I said absolutely not,&#8221; JJ Grieves, Tripp&#8217;s father, said. And he hopes that Rayce&#8217;s example will help other people learn to become more accepting. &#8220;He&#8217;s the same as the rest of us,&#8221; Grieves said. &#8220;He just takes a little longer to learn, a little more caring, a little bit more loving, but isn&#8217;t that what the world needs?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/twin-girls-down-syndrome-abort-six-times\/\">Her twin girls had Down syndrome, so doctors urged her to abort six times.<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Rayce isn&#8217;t the only sibling who is showing love to their baby brother. &#8220;When we first learned about our son Tripp\u2019s Down Syndrome diagnosis while I was pregnant we told our oldest boys Jayce and Rayce about it,&#8221; Powell <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/nicole.powell.73\/posts\/2984343788245169\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote on Facebook<\/a>. &#8220;Later that night I checked Jayces snap chat because I saw he uploaded a photo and I saw this. On his own he googled Down syndrome and made his own &#8216;ribbon&#8217;. I was only 6 months pregnant at the time so of course the tears flew. Then we had Tripp and Jayce told us, &#8216;I made him something during free time in class. I have it in my desk, ive been waiting until he was born to bring it to him.&#8217; Again it was the same ribbon. So we knew we had to get him some stickers made for his bmx bike. I couldn\u2019t have picked better big brothers for our sweet boy! People with Down syndrome are living longer, healthier, more independent lives than ever before, and virtually all of them report <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/news\/opinion\/forum\/story\/2011-11-14\/blood-test-down-syndrome\/51202078\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">being happy with themselves and their lives<\/a>. That positivity likewise affects their families, with parents and siblings alike overwhelmingly reporting that their family member with Down syndrome had <a href=\"http:\/\/www.msnbc.msn.com\/id\/44703812\/ns\/health-health_care\/#.T2kEu4GPXf-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a good effect on their lives<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>People with Down syndrome are not burdens and they have potential.
