In the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), a hospital&#8217;s youngest patients fight for their lives, which can be especially difficult and trying for new parents, who should be at home celebrating the holidays instead of facing stress as they watch their children try to survive. Still, hospital staff and volunteers across the country do all they can to make sure families are able to get into the holiday spirit the best they can.<\/p>\n<p>At WellStar Atlanta Medical Center, 10 babies were decked out in adorable Christmas get-ups, and the post quickly went viral. &#8220;Our NICU nurses dressed babies in holiday sweaters, bows, dresses and stockings,&#8221; the hospital <a href=\"https:\/\/www.11alive.com\/article\/life\/heartwarming\/wellstar-atlanta-medical-center-nicu-christmas-babies\/85-00c397e2-bfb1-4d32-81f0-68114b71bcb2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told 11Alive<\/a>. &#8220;Nurse Terri Gonzales took photos. Bella Baby Photography also took photos for the families to enjoy. &#8220;It means a lot that they actually care to let us have Santa since we can&#8217;t go home and have Santa,&#8221; Kelsey, a mother with a baby in the NICU, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wlky.com\/article\/santa-makes-a-special-stop-to-visit-babies-at-baptist-heath-louisville-nicu\/30224872\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told WLKY<\/a>. &#8220;I am just excited and happy about it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><center><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fwlkynews%2Fvideos%2F578303919675503%2F&amp;show_text=0&amp;width=476\" width=\"476\" height=\"476\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/center><br \/>\nHelen DeVos Children&#8217;s Hospital in Michigan also saw St. Nick stop by, with Santa photos provided to the parents. \u201cI really want a picture with Santa for her first Christmas,\u201d mom Alexis Carter-Cook said in <a href=\"https:\/\/healthbeat.spectrumhealth.org\/santa-makes-early-christmas-visit-to-the-nicu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the hospital&#8217;s story about the event<\/a>. \u201cI think it\u2019s amazing that people would do that for the children. It\u2019s so nice people have such holiday spirit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Her daughter, Mi&#8217;Asia Merriweather, was born almost two months early, and despite being bundled with tubes and wires everywhere, Santa knew perfectly how to safely hold her.
