Comedian Michelle Wolf, who gained notoriety for trying to make abortion funny<\/a>, is back at it. In her Netflix comedy special Joke Show<\/a>, <\/em>Wolf tries to explain how empowering her abortion was, joining the trend among abortion activists of \u201cshouting<\/a>\u201d their abortions.<\/p>\n

In Wolf\u2019s latest attempt at incendiary comedy, she said talking about your abortion should be like talking \u201cabout your gluten allergy.\u201d She continued, \u201cAnd a lot of people think that even if you\u2019re allowed to get abortions, it should only be for a very few specific reasons. Well, I think you should be able to get an abortion for any reason you want.\u201d<\/p>\n

When her comment was met with applause, Wolf went on to ridicule people who think abortion is a \u201cbig deal\u201d or think mothers should \u201ctake [their] time making the decision.\u201d She claimed, \u201cIt can be any deal you want it to be.\u201d If it\u2019s a big deal, \u201cit\u2019s a big deal. If it\u2019s not, it\u2019s not.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wolf then said undergoing her own abortion wasn\u2019t a big deal and bemoaned that mothers \u201cfeel like you should have this sense of shame after you get an abortion.\u201d After this, she quipped \u201cyou can feel any way you want after an abortion. Get one! See how you feel.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wolf then queried the audience, \u201cYou know how my abortion made me feel? Very powerful.\u201d Not done shouting her abortion, Wolf continued, \u201cYou know how people say you can\u2019t play God? I walked out of there being like, \u2018Move over Morgan Freeman, I am God!\u2019\u201d referring to Freeman\u2019s role as God in the film Bruce Almighty.<\/em><\/p>\n

As usual, Wolf\u2019s attempts to make light of abortion misses important facts<\/a>. While Wolf claims abortion can be \u201cno big deal\u201d and pokes fun at mothers who regret an abortion, many women experience PTSD-type symptoms after their abortions,<\/a>\u00a0sometimes referred to as post-abortion syndrome.<\/p>\n

Abortion violently ends the life of a preborn child and many mothers experience coercion, whether relational or economic, that pushes them toward an abortion decision. These conditions are anything but empowering for women, and joking about abortion as \u201cno big deal\u201d is in poor taste, to say the least. As much as abortion activists want to shout their abortions they can\u2019t change the reality of abortion, which is the destruction of innocent human life.<\/p>\n
