A new bill<\/a> submitted to the New York Assembly in November seeks to force State University of New York (SUNY) schools to provide the abortion pill to students. The proposed law would also require a fund, comprised of both public and private money, to be established to finance the abortion pill on all campuses.<\/p>\n

While the abortion industry claims the abortion pill is safe, it is impossible to know the true dangers of the two-pill regimen that kills a developing child because nearly half of all states do not report<\/a> complications that occur after a woman takes it. However, it is known that in states that do report on the complications of the abortion pill, incomplete abortions were the most common complication, which includes severe bleeding and infection, as well as the need for a surgical abortion. In addition, at least 24 women have died<\/em><\/a> after taking the abortion pill. Handing college women the abortion pill and sending them back to their dorm is not safe or respectful of women.<\/p>\n

“You’re not providing actual patient care in a student health environment with a doctor-patient relationship ongoing,” Jim Harden, CEO of CompassCare, explained<\/a>. “There’s follow up that’s required, there’s monitoring that’s required, and all of this is extracted from the women’s experience on campus. It’s dangerous for her.”<\/p>\n

In fact, the bill allows for a third party<\/a> contracted with SUNY to give the abortion pill to these young women.<\/p>\n
