However, due to limited state requirements, abortions for race\/ethnicity were recorded in just 32 reporting areas. According to the CDC, the\u00a0percentage (below) is based on a total of 383,485 abortions reported among the 32 areas that met reporting standards for race\/ethnicity.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Non-Hispanic white women accounted for\u00a0<strong>35%<\/strong>\u00a0of reported abortions.<\/li>\n<li>Non-Hispanic black women accounted for\u00a0<strong>38%<\/strong>\u00a0of reported abortions.<\/li>\n<li>Hispanic women accounted for\u00a0<strong>18.8%<\/strong>\u00a0of reported abortions.<\/li>\n<li>Other <strong>8.2% <\/strong>of reported abortions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Estimated abortions by race (2016):\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Live Action News has estimated the total number of abortions by using the CDC&#8217;s percentages for race\/ethnicity and multiplying it against all reported abortions (623,471) reported in 2016:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Non-Hispanic white women (35%)= 218,214 (estimated) abortions annually.<\/li>\n<li>Non-Hispanic black women (38%)\u00a0= 236,919\u00a0 (estimated) abortions annually.<\/li>\n<li>Hispanic women (18.8%)\u00a0= 117, 212 (estimated) abortions annually.<\/li>\n<li>Other (8.2%) = 51,124\u00a0(estimated) abortions annually.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id=\"attachment_215088\" style=\"width: 949px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/mmwr\/volumes\/68\/ss\/pdfs\/ss6811a1-H.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2016<\/a>:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>An estimated\u00a0<em>649<\/em> abortions were committed on Black women every single day.<\/li>\n<li>Black people made up just 12 percent of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kff.org\/other\/state-indicator\/distribution-by-raceethnicity\/?dataView=0&amp;currentTimeframe=2&amp;selectedDistributions=black&amp;sortModel=%7B%22colId%22:%22Location%22,%22sort%22:%22asc%22%7D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U.S. population<\/a> but accounted for 38 percent of reported abortions.<\/li>\n<li>The Black abortion rate (abortions per 1,000 women aged 15\u201344 years)\u00a0was <em>3.8 times higher than white abortion rate<\/em>\u00a0(25.1 v. 6.6) and\u00a0<em>2.15 times higher than the Hispanic<\/em> <em>abortion rate <\/em>(25.1 v. 11.7).<\/li>\n<li>The Black\u00a0<strong>abortion ratio<\/strong>\u00a0(abortions per 1,000 live births)\u00a0was <em>nearly 3.7 times higher<\/em> than the White abortion ratio (401 v. 109) and <em>more than 2.5 times higher<\/em> than Hispanic abortion ratio (401 v. 156).<\/li>\n<li>Black abortions (236,919 estimated) outnumbered the\u00a0<strong>top nine leading causes<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>of\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/nchs\/data\/dvs\/lcwk\/lcwk1_hr_2016.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>death<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(235,139)\u00a0for Black Americans combined.<\/li>\n<li>Estimated Black abortion numbers were\u00a0<em>24 times greater than homicides<\/em>\u00a0committed on Black Americans (236,919 v. 9,860) that same year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div 2000.<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortions-dropped-50-percent-1980-cdc-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2016<\/a>:\u00a0 38% (32 reporting areas)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/mmwr\/preview\/mmwrhtml\/ss6410a1.htm?s_cid=ss6410a1_w\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2012<\/a>: 36.7% (27 reporting areas)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/mmwr\/preview\/mmwrhtml\/ss5212a1.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2000<\/a>: 35.1% (41 reporting areas)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>However, in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/mmwr\/volumes\/68\/ss\/pdfs\/ss6811a1-H.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2016<\/a>, the abortion <em>rate<\/em> for Black women fell to 25.1\u00a0from a high of 33.9 in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/mmwr\/preview\/mmwrhtml\/ss5808a1.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2006<\/a>\u00a0and 30 in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/mmwr\/preview\/mmwrhtml\/ss5212a1.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2000<\/a>.\u00a0In addition, while the Black abortion ratio rose slightly from 390 in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/mmwr\/volumes\/67\/ss\/ss6713a1.htm#T12_down\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2015<\/a>\u00a0to 401 in <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortions-dropped-50-percent-1980-cdc-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2016<\/a>, it has dropped to the lowest number since a high of 503 in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/mmwr\/preview\/mmwrhtml\/ss5212a1.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2000<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hispanic abortions in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/mmwr\/volumes\/68\/ss\/pdfs\/ss6811a1-H.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2016:<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>More than 321 abortions were done every day on Hispanic women.<\/li>\n<li>Hispanics made up 18% of the U.S. population, and accounted for\u00a0<strong>18.8<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>percent<\/strong>\u00a0of reported abortions.<\/li>\n<li>The Hispanic\u00a0<strong>abortion rate<\/strong>\u00a0(abortions per 1,000 women aged 15\u201344 years)\u00a0was\u00a0<em>1.7 times higher<\/em>\u00a0than the White abortion rate (11.7 v. 6.6).<\/li>\n<li>The Hispanic\u00a0<strong>abortion ratio<\/strong>\u00a0(abortions per 1,000 live births)\u00a0was\u00a0<em>1.4 times\u00a0higher<\/em>\u00a0than the White abortion ratio (156 v. 109).<\/li>\n<li>Hispanic abortions (117, 212 est.) outnumbered the\u00a0<strong>top five leading causes of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/nchs\/data\/dvs\/lcwk\/lcwk1_hr_2016.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">deaths<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>(111,602)\u00a0for Hispanic Americans combined.<\/li>\n<li>Estimated Hispanic abortion numbers were nearly\u00a0<em>37 times greater<\/em> than homicides\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/nchs\/data\/dvs\/lcwk\/lcwk1_hr_2016.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">committed<\/a>\u00a0on Hispanic Americans (117, 212 v. 3,187) that same year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id=\"attachment_215084\" style=\"width: 465px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-215084\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" Leading Causes of Death Hispanic 2016<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>Hispanic abortions 2000 to 2016:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Between 2000 and 2016, the percentage of Hispanic women who obtained abortions fell slightly from 2000 and from a high in 2007.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/mmwr\/volumes\/68\/ss\/pdfs\/ss6811a1-H.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2016<\/a>: 18.8% (32 reporting areas for race\/ethnicity)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/mmwr\/preview\/mmwrhtml\/ss6001a1.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2007:<\/a>\u00a022.1%\u00a0(25 reporting areas for race\/ethnicity)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/mmwr\/preview\/mmwrhtml\/ss5212a1.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2000<\/a>: 16.6% (29 reporting areas on ethnicity)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Between 2000 and 2016, the Hispanic abortion rate (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/mmwr\/preview\/mmwrhtml\/ss5212a1.htm#tab10\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">16<\/a> v <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/mmwr\/volumes\/68\/ss\/pdfs\/ss6811a1-H.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">11.7<\/a>) and ratio (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/mmwr\/preview\/mmwrhtml\/ss5212a1.htm#tab10\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">225<\/a> v. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/mmwr\/volumes\/68\/ss\/pdfs\/ss6811a1-H.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">156<\/a>) has also decreased.<\/p>\n<p>As Live Action News <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortions-industry-minority-tv-movies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">previously<\/a> documented,\u00a0Planned Parenthood&#8217;s effort to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthoodaction.org\/uploads\/filer_public\/8c\/86\/8c866f34-f67f-4c9e-9afd-a38ccbef65cb\/care_for_all_one-pager.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">change<\/a>\u00a0the so-called \u201cstigma\u201d that surrounds abortion by \u201cworking with content creators on honest and authentic portrayals of abortion in film and television\u201d will include creating more portrayals of \u201cwomen of color (WOC)\u201d obtaining abortions \u2014 something that should raise the eyebrows of anyone who knows about the eugenic <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/how-planned-parenthood-abortion-corporation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">history<\/a> of Planned Parenthood. To assist in rolling out the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-abortion-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">plan<\/a>, Planned Parenthood has appointed staffer\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/caren-spruch-62489b19\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Caren Spruch<\/a>\u00a0to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/news\/magazine\/wp\/2019\/09\/23\/feature\/planned-parenthoods-woman-in-hollywood\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">oversee<\/a> the effort. She has\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-influenced-150-films-shows\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reportedly<\/a>\u00a0influenced more than 150 films since 2014.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_193677\" style=\"width: 526px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-193677\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-193677\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Planned-Parenthood-Black-Community-celebrates-portrayals-of-Women-of-Color-having-abortions.jpg\" alt=\"Planned Parenthood Black Community celebrates portrayals of Women of Color having abortions\" width=\"516\" height=\"458\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Planned-Parenthood-Black-Community-celebrates-portrayals-of-Women-of-Color-having-abortions.jpg 516w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Planned-Parenthood-Black-Community-celebrates-portrayals-of-Women-of-Color-having-abortions-300x266.jpg 300w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Planned-Parenthood-Black-Community-celebrates-portrayals-of-Women-of-Color-having-abortions-500x444.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 516px) 100vw, 516px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-193677\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Planned Parenthood Black Community celebrates portrayals of Women of Color having abortions<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Planned Parenthood\u2019s eugenic agenda was driven by founder Margaret Sanger, who strategically worked to convince the Black community to control its population through her infamous \u201cNegro Project.\u201d Sanger is still viewed as a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-founder-margaret-sanger-spoke-ku-klux-klan-supported-eugenics-organization-still-honor\/\">hero<\/a>\u00a0by the abortion industry, despite her admission that she met with members of the Ku Klux Klan,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.maafa21.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">advocated<\/a>\u00a0eugenics, and supported the use of sterilization to rid the planet of the \u201cunfit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Data published by Planned Parenthood&#8217;s former \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/how-independent-is-guttmacher-from-planned-parenthood\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">special affiliate<\/a>,\u201d the Guttmacher Institute, which publishes more\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/understanding-abortion-reporting-numbers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">comprehensive<\/a>\u00a0abortion numbers than the Centers for Disease Control, reveals that in 2017, Planned Parenthood\u2019s market share of abortions climbed to\u00a0<strong>nearly 39%<\/strong>\u00a0(38.5%).
