{"id":214560,"date":"2019-11-27T14:35:51","date_gmt":"2019-11-27T20:35:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/news\/?p=214560"},"modified":"2020-02-11T18:07:03","modified_gmt":"2020-02-12T00:07:03","slug":"2020-democratic-candidate-survey-extreme-abortion-support","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/2020-democratic-candidate-survey-extreme-abortion-support\/","title":{"rendered":"Out of touch: 2020 Democratic candidate survey responses reveal extreme support for abortion"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>The New York Times recently\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2019\/11\/25\/us\/politics\/democratic-candidates-abortion-survey.html?fbclid=IwAR1nbHV9ZGRE3jeNZJLx4Vxo0C3rf3b8eyChsXmf7QC40JQLAPsm2ukVLfc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">published<\/a>\u00a0abortion survey responses submitted by 2020 Democrat Presidential candidates &#8212; and they show\u00a0an extreme support for abortion, prompting a Planned Parenthood affiliate to <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ppazaction\/status\/1199449026934034440\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tweet<\/a>, &#8220;<span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-1qd0xha r-ad9z0x r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">According to a New York Times survey, the <\/span><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-1qd0xha r-vw2c0b r-ad9z0x r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">2020<\/span><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-1qd0xha r-ad9z0x r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\"> Democratic candidates &#8216;unapologetically support&#8217;\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-1qd0xha r-vw2c0b r-ad9z0x r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">abortion<\/span><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-1qd0xha r-ad9z0x r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\"> rights.&#8221; What&#8217;s really interesting is that they&#8217;re also <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/poll-majority-hyde-amendment-taxpayers-abortion\/\">extremely<\/a> out of <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/polls-majority-women-dont-want-taxpayer-abortion\/\">touch<\/a> with <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/new-poll-half-americans-disagree-roe-v-wade\/\">where<\/a> the <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/poll-americans-abortion-facilities-standards-hospitals\/\">American public<\/a> stands <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/poll-75-percent-abortion-restricted\/\">on the issue<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>All 2020 Democrats promised to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;Codify <em>Roe<\/em>,&#8221; which &#8212; with its partner decision, <em>Doe v. Bolton<\/em> &#8212; <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/four-myths-new-york-abortion-truth\/\">allows for abortion throughout pregnancy<\/a> for any reason. (<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/new-poll-half-americans-disagree-roe-v-wade\/\">Most Americans disagree<\/a> with Roe and Doe&#8217;s lack of limits on abortion.)<\/li>\n<li>Repeal the <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/poll-majority-hyde-amendment-taxpayers-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hyde Amendment<\/a>, allowing tax-payer dollars to pay for abortions.
