The move towards <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/guttmacher-institute-plan-expand-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">expansion<\/a> has been supported by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-industry-tweets-diy-abortion-safe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Guttmacher,<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-abortion-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Planned Parenthood<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-plan-financial-incentives-abortion-limits\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">others<\/a>, like the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-groups-plan-increase-demand\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tara Health Foundation<\/a>, and\u00a0involves a push for the FDA to abandon an important safety system (REMS) put in place for the abortion pill. Currently, under <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/aboutfda\/transparency\/basics\/ucm325201.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">REMS<\/a>,\u00a0the abortion pill (which consist of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.accessdata.fda.gov\/drugsatfda_docs\/nda\/2016\/020687Orig1s020TOC.cfm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mifepristone<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; or Mifeprex &#8211; and Misoprostol) can only be ordered, prescribed, and dispensed by and under the supervision of a hospital or clinic. In addition, there are requirements in place to confirm important details like gestational age and any possible ectopic pregnancies.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/dTsUsy30Q8A\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>But in their zeal for abortion on demand, the abortion lobby is becoming very creative.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. They have conflated &#8220;miscarriage&#8221; and &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/acog-early-pregnancy-bulletin-heartbeat-life\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">early pregnancy loss<\/a>&#8221; with abortion.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Live Action News has <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-industry-attempts-conflate-abortion-pill-miscarriage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">previously<\/a> documented the effort to conflate abortion with miscarriage. In addition, we <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-groups-tell-women-lie-miscarriage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">previously<\/a> reported how the abortion lobby is advising women who self-abort and have complications to present to the ER <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-groups-tell-women-lie-miscarriage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">claiming<\/a>\u00a0to have a miscarriage.<\/p>\n<p>A recent <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/health\/abortion-pill-what-to-know\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">article<\/a>\u00a0in People states, &#8220;<b>the pills trigger a miscarriage<\/b>&#8221; and says\u00a0&#8220;women should expect significant bleeding that then peters out.&#8221; Dr. Mary Jane Minkin admitted to People that pain is a \u201cmajor side effect&#8221; of the abortion pill &#8212; then compared abortion to a miscarriage.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cIt\u2019s a miscarriage that they\u2019re going to be feeling.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;[T]hey\u2019re basically undergoing a miscarriage, so they will have contractions.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>\u201cShe\u2019s going to be done with the miscarriage in a day or two in general, and then some people can continue bleeding for about two weeks.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>No wonder Planned Parenthood has added categories like\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/advocatesaz.org\/2015\/03\/02\/over-90-percent-of-what-planned-parenthood-does-part-24-miscarriage-management-and-counseling\/\">miscarriage care<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/search\/?q=Miscarriage+Management\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">miscarriage management<\/a>\u00a0to its list of &#8220;services.&#8221; Some of these services involve surgically completing an abortion when the abortion pill fails to do the job completely.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. (More\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/dangerous-self-abortion-pill-push\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. They want to expand the use of the abortion pill via pharmacy dispension.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>These efforts are being sponsored by the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) and led by Dr. Daniel Grossman. Live Action News has <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/facebook-unbiased-fact-checkers-anything-but\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">documented<\/a> Grossman&#8217;s deep ties to the abortion industry and to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/secrecy-abortion-pill-maker-investors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DANCO\u2019s<\/a> investors. His studies on abortion pill safety regularly fail to note these conflicts.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/clinicaltrials.gov\/ct2\/show\/NCT03320057?term=grossman%2C+mifeprex&amp;rank=2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pharmacy dispensing<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/dangerous-self-abortion-pill-push\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Online Pharmacy dispensing\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-pill-study-second-trimester-minority\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>4. They want to use abortion pills for other medical indications.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>An effort is underway to use the abortion pill for other medical indications as a way to convince the FDA to remove the regulatory safety requirements.<\/p>\n<p>According to this\u00a0Gynuity\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gynuity.org\/news\/mifepristones-multiple-reproductive-health-indications\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">document<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>One strategy to increase availability and market sustainability of mifepristone is to register it for additional indications. Several of these \u201cuncontroversial\u201d indications are legal in most jurisdictions and could provide an entry point for the medication to be listed on national drug registries, stocked in hospitals and other health care facilities, and integrated into health care systems&#8230;Ultimately, each labeled indication for a single pill mifepristone (200 mg) has the potential to appeal to different stakeholders and expand the marketability of this medication.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>As stated above, Gynuity is behind several clinical trials to expand abortion.\u00a0Live Action News also previously <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-industry-attempts-conflate-abortion-pill-miscarriage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">noted<\/a> a push to use mifepristone for miscarriage.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5. They want to expand abortion pill use into the second trimester.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The abortion pill regimen is approved for use up 10 weeks; however, Live Action News <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-pill-study-second-trimester-minority\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">previously<\/a> documented efforts to expand it into the second trimester. Experimental <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-pill-study-second-trimester-minority\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">trials<\/a> on African women are underway for this effort. They are\u00a0pushing for &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.misoprostol.org\/dosage-guidelines\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Misoprostol<\/a>\u00a0<em>only&#8221;\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/obgyn.onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/epdf\/10.1002\/ijgo.12181\">abortions<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The abortion lobby is hailing efforts using Misoprostol only, the second of the abortion pill regimen, for abortions. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.figo.org\/sites\/default\/files\/uploads\/project-publications\/Miso\/FIGO_Dosage_Chart%20EN_0.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Misoprostol<\/a> is not restricted by the FDA in the same way that Mifeprex is, and this may be the motive behind these efforts.<\/p>\n<p>A\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/30531568\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report<\/a> entitled, &#8220;Efficacy of Misoprostol Alone for First-Trimester Medical Abortion: A Systematic Review,&#8221; has been published by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/journals.lww.com\/greenjournal\/Abstract\/2019\/01000\/Efficacy_of_Misoprostol_Alone_for_First_Trimester.19.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology<\/a>.\u00a0The Journal, commonly referred to as &#8220;The Green Journal,&#8221; is the official publication of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), a <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/american-college-obstetricians-gynecologists-pro-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pro-abortion organization<\/a>. The review sought to &#8220;summarize available data on the effectiveness and safety of single-agent misoprostol for medical abortion in the first trimester.&#8221; It concluded that &#8220;Misoprostol alone is effective and safe and is a reasonable option for women seeking abortion in the first trimester&#8230;.&#8221; The paper was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.elon.edu\/u\/news\/2018\/12\/18\/weaver-co-authors-systematic-review-published-in-obstetrics-and-gynecology\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">funded<\/a> by the National Institutes of Health, the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, and Gynuity Health Projects. While misoprostol alone is less effective than when taken in conjunction with mifepristone, it is often the next best option due to its safety, low cost and wide availability&#8230;.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Misoprostol is no walk in the park.
