More than 11,000 babies who could potentially have survived were aborted in a year"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>The abortion lobby and its media friends diminish late-term abortions as &#8220;only a few&#8221; or a &#8220;small percentage&#8221; of abortions while further downplaying thousands of abortions committed at or after 21 weeks, when the preborn baby might be potentially viable.\u00a0Live Action News <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/media-pretends-100000-late-abortions-every-year-no-big-deal-theyre-wrong\/\">previously documented<\/a> that abortions committed into the second and third trimesters totaled over <em>100,000<\/em> in 2017 alone. According to both the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Guttmacher Institute, abortions committed at 21 weeks or greater represent 1.3% of all reported abortions.<\/p>\n<p>When the media discusses this percentage, however, they make it seem insignificant. So why isn&#8217;t that same or similar percentage insignificant when discussing other U.S. deaths, such as those from gun violence, alcohol-induced causes, or suicide?<\/p>\n<p>The CDC\u2019s National Vital Statistics Reports on deaths of born residents registered in the United States in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/nchs\/data\/nvsr\/nvsr68\/nvsr68_09-508.pdf\">2017<\/a> reveal there were 2,813,503 deaths reported that year. A sample of deaths that reflect a similar range to the\u00a0<strong><em>1.3 percent<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0of the total reported deaths include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/nchs\/data\/nvsr\/nvsr68\/nvsr68_09-508.pdf\"><strong>2017<\/strong><\/a>, 39,773 persons died from firearm-related injuries in the United States\u00a0(homicide, unintentional, suicide, undetermined, etc.) representing approximately<strong><em> 1.4\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>percent<\/em><\/strong><em>\u00a0of all reported deaths in the United States<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>In\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/nchs\/data\/nvsr\/nvsr68\/nvsr68_09-508.pdf\"><strong>2017<\/strong><\/a>, a total of 35,823 persons died of alcohol-induced causes in the United States, representing\u00a0<strong>nearly <em>1.3 percent<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>of all reported deaths in the United States.<\/li>\n<li>In\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/nchs\/data\/nvsr\/nvsr68\/nvsr68_09-508.pdf\"><strong>2017<\/strong><\/a>, a total of 47,173\u00a0persons died of Intentional self-harm (suicide), representing <em><strong>1.7\u00a0<\/strong><strong>percent<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0of all reported deaths in the United States.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In other words, deaths from firearms, alcohol-induced causes and suicide represent a similar percentage of all deaths to that of reported abortions at or beyond twenty-one weeks.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Abortions at or after 21 weeks: 11,000\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Planned Parenthood&#8217;s former\u00a0\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/how-independent-is-guttmacher-from-planned-parenthood\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">special affiliate<\/a>&#8221;\u00a0the Guttmacher Institute are national reporting agencies for abortion statistics. While there is a wide variation in abortion totals between the two agencies, which Live Action News <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/understanding-abortion-reporting-numbers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">previously<\/a>\u00a0explained\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/understanding-abortion-reporting-numbers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here,<\/a>\u00a0they fail to summarize the number of abortions committed in just the third trimester, categorizing abortions committed at or greater than 21 weeks together. Despite this flaw, what both reporting agencies tell us about abortions by gestation is that abortions committed at or beyond 21 weeks are far from insignificant. They represent:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>7,481 (estimated) late-term abortions in <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortions-dropped-50-percent-1980-cdc-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortions-dropped-50-percent-1980-cdc-report\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1576295688337000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHvBbQXR7YuXbkMgnuQGkerLA2H-g\">2016<\/a> (CDC).<\/li>\n<li>11,210 (estimated) late-term abortions in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/us-abortion-rate-lowest-roe-v-wade\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2017<\/a>\u00a0(Guttmacher).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Guttmacher&#8217;s abortion numbers are considered more comprehensive than data reported by the CDC, because Guttmacher surveys actual abortion facilities or providers; therefore, Live Action News has concluded the 1.3% of\u00a0reported abortions committed at or after 21 weeks <b>represented over 11,000 abortions <\/b>(30 preborn babies aborted late in pregnancy daily) in just 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Abortion procedures used at this stage include D&amp;E &#8212; a violent dismemberment abortion &#8212; described in the video below. Another form is called induction abortion. Read more about that gruesome procedure <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/third-trimester-abortion-induction\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/jgw4X7Dw_3k\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Babies aborted at\/or greater than 21 weeks represent a time&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8230; when it has been <a href=\"https:\/\/frc.org\/fetalpainbrief\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">documented<\/a> that a preborn child <a href=\"https:\/\/lozierinstitute.org\/tag\/pain-capable\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">feels pain<\/a>. (However, each preborn child killed by abortion is a human person who should be protected whether they can sense of pain or not.)<\/li>\n<li>&#8230; preborn babies could be nearing or at a gestational age where they might potentially survive.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Recent <a href=\"http:\/\/bioethicsobservatory.org\/2019\/10\/saybie-is-the-smallest-of-the-small-healthy-baby-born-a-new-paradigm-is-needed-for-premature-babies\/32351\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">research<\/a> (<a href=\"https:\/\/jamanetwork.com\/journals\/jama\/fullarticle\/2728924\">Jama Network March 26, 2019<\/a>, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/medicalxpress.com\/news\/2019-03-sweden-world-extremely-preterm-babies.html\">Medical Express, March 26, 2019<\/a>) has documented that babies delivered younger than 24 or 23 weeks are potentially able to survive. And, according to research <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/287722201309088\/posts\/2186544388093517\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">published<\/a> by the Charlotte Lozier Institute,\u00a0a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/email.susanbanthonylistemail.com\/c\/eJxVkN1qwzAMhZ-muWuI7DhxLnxRsg0KG9srKI6SunPsYrsd29PPKdnGQCD49HOONCpOHTSFUayCrqpBgmSiFiWUrBdweACoet6BfGS7uorXiG5Al07efVoTEy1obKn9UpxUQyNxpKqRLQxTo2kcB4acQ8sZjkNb9MfD23H_GmZ05guT8U7VpGtOWgOrqEZqUNAkmwGmUUgxyGmb6XG5oJmdgraBjb1QjDiTkl3LiqA0Bm_J-Zsha032as2NUK8qpQ9zkdT_VTt-uC_74c_5msxYK37RppDpXeOvT61dVp1SusRc3bGnHGdc0FH68OF9fchK_DU4tHEr5oQhGW1pj0NMIZvLiLVMdhV8A-XteQU\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">study<\/a>\u00a0in Sweden found that the survival rate among babies born prematurely has nearly doubled from 10 years ago.
