In Colorado, the Coalition for Women and Children has been approved to collect signatures for a late-term abortion ban. The ban would stop abortions committed at and after 22 weeks \u2013 a modern marker for viability and a point in pregnancy where the child can scientifically feel pain. Many studies show pain is felt by the preborn child even earlier in pregnancy (as early as 5.5 weeks<\/a>)<\/span>, but when viability and the ability to feel pain are both experienced by the child, a super-majority of Americans support stopping abortion.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Colorado is one of only seven states in the nation that still allows abortion on demand through all 40 weeks of pregnancy. Because of the dangerously unmonitored climate in Colorado, Planned Parenthood has recently announced plans to expand in the state. For decades, a notorious late-term abortion facility in Boulder has been operated by Warren Hern, who is known for botching abortions<\/a>. <\/span>Hern has been caught on film charging $30,000 for late-term abortions<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n

He has advertised his willingness to commit abortions<\/a> specifically for children diagnosed with spina bifida, Down syndrome, and cleft lip.<\/span>\u00a0Additionally, a recent undercover investigation<\/a> showed a woman coming to Hern to abort a child who could have survived outside the womb, but who she simply did not want because her life was already \u201cperfect.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

If the Coalition for Women and Children can gather nearly 125,000 signatures before a deadline of March 4, 2020, the ballot initiative will appear on the 2020 ballot. Already, the campaign has gathered significant organizational support, with the backing of major groups in the state like the Catholic Conference. Focus on the Family has also published articles informing potential volunteers of how they can get involved<\/a> early on. <\/span>The Coalition says a top goal is to get into churches throughout the state and collect signatures after services.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Coalition for Women and Children provides additional information at its website, <\/span>www.duedatetoolate.com<\/span><\/a>, and supporters can visit the site to donate funds and volunteer to collect signatures. \u201cWe need more signature gatherers to sign up right away,\u201d a Coalition representative told Live Action News. \u201cThe most important thing people can do \u2013 other than pray \u2013 is to visit the website and sign up to collect signatures. We encourage people to ask their churches if they can set up a table after service and get signatures there. It\u2019s a high yield for a little time investment. Colorado is one of the few remaining states where babies who could survive outside the womb are regularly aborted. In fact, abortion tourism is a business in Colorado. People fly into our state from around the nation and even internationally to end their child\u2019s life at a premium price. This isn\u2019t safe for women<\/a>, and it\u2019s certainly not safe for the children who can feel extreme pain<\/a> during the multi-day process.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
