Much emphasis has been placed on abortion this election season, and the official GOP and Democratic positions on the issue are quite opposite. We have one party who thinks it is a right and should be funded with taxpayer dollars and one party who is seeking to protect the unborn.<\/p>\n

Here is a look at what the 2012 GOP\u2019s platform<\/a> has to say on the abortion issue.<\/p>\n

The GOP\u2019s platform<\/a> is outspoken in its concern for the protection of life, without the use of federal funds:<\/p>\n

We call on the government to permanently ban all federal funding and subsidies for abortion<\/strong> and healthcare plans that include abortion coverage.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The difference is drawn<\/a> between abortion under ObamaCare and the need to protect life:<\/p>\n

Through Obamacare, the current Administration has promoted the notion of abortion as healthcare. We, however, affirm the dignity of women by protecting the sanctity of human life<\/strong>. Numerous studies have shown that abortion endangers the health and well-being of women, and we stand firmly against it.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The platform addresses<\/a> Obama\u2019s agenda regarding religion:<\/p>\n

The most offensive instance of this war on religion has been the current Administration\u2019s attempt to compel faith-related institutions<\/strong>, as well as believing individuals, to contravene their deeply held religious, moral, or ethical beliefs<\/strong> regarding health services, traditional marriage, or abortion<\/strong>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The need for wider protection for the unborn is voiced<\/a>:<\/p>\n

Republican leadership has led the effort to prohibit the barbaric practice of partial-birth abortion<\/strong> and permitted States to extend health care coverage to children before birth. We urge Congress to strengthen the Born Alive Infant Protection Act<\/strong> by enacting appropriate civil and criminal penalties on healthcare providers who fail to provide treatment and care to an infant who survives an abortion, including early induction delivery where the death of the infant is intended. We call for legislation to ban sex-selective abortions<\/strong> \u2013 gender discrimination in its most lethal form \u2013 and to protect from abortion unborn children who are capable of feeling pain<\/strong>; and we applaud U.S. House Republicans for leading the effort to protect the lives of pain-capable unborn children in the District of Columbia. We call for a ban on the use of body parts from aborted fetuses for research<\/strong>. We support and applaud adult stem cell research to develop lifesaving therapies, and we oppose the killing of embryos for their stem cells. We oppose federal funding of embryonic stem cell research.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
