This false narrative has been pushed widely across many media outlets, as Live Action News has <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-facilities-cuts-family-planning-lie\/\">reported<\/a>. But the fact is that Planned Parenthood, though perfectly capable of complying with the law, has chosen to <em>leave the Title X program voluntarily.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"MRC TV video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mrctv.org\/embed\/542566\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Note the New York Times headline below, from August 19:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Planned Parenthood was not &#8220;forced out&#8221; like you are being told. PP made a &#8220;choice&#8221; to keep <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/abortion?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#abortion<\/a> which is their $$$ machine- rather than help low income women &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/TitleX?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#TitleX<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/protectX?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#protectX<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/HHS?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#HHS<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/prolife?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#prolife<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/WajOlZ1S1V\">pic.twitter.com\/WajOlZ1S1V<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Carole Novielli (@CaroleNovielli) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CaroleNovielli\/status\/1163669952961929217?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 20, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>According to the media narrative, the Title X rules force doctors to give sloppy \u201ccare.\u201d In her MSNBC interview, Planned Parenthood\u2019s acting CEO Alexis McGill Johnson framed Planned Parenthood&#8217;s decision to leave the program as an act of ethical principle in response to immoral pressure. \u201cTrump and the Trump Administration are essentially bullies. They are forcing us out of a program by endorsing and enforcing this unethical \u2018gag rule.\u2019 We\u2019re just not going to engage in providing substandard care for low-income women.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;&#8221;Substandard care? You mean like <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-terrified-dangerous-missouri-abortion-close\/\">this Planned Parenthood facility<\/a>, which has sent dozens of women to the hospital in ambulances? Or <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/nyc-planned-parenthood-injures-five-seven-weeks\/\">this facility<\/a>? You mean like the Planned Parenthood-caused\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-doctors-public-relations\/\">deaths of Cree Sheppard in Kalamazoo and Tonya Reaves in Chicago, and the substandard care<\/a> given by other Planned Parenthood abortionists? Ms. Johnson likely knows that the media will allow her to get away with claiming her organization is all about ethics, but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/what-we-do\/investigations\/\">this is far<\/a> from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/user\/centerformedprogress\/playlists\">the truth<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Yet to be clear, the only change under the Trump administration\u2019s new rule is that Planned Parenthood centers would not be able to refer for or provide abortion in any facility funded by Title X dollars. Despite the fact that abortion is <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-not-healthcare-former-abortion-workers-speak\/\">not healthcare<\/a> and is <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/abortion-never-medically-health-care\/\">never medically necessary<\/a>, McGill Johnson\u2019s unspoken claim is that the ability to commit or even refer for abortions constitutes such a vital \u201ccare\u201d that Planned Parenthood has chosen to withdraw from the Title X program.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/over-half-planned-parenthood-revenue-abortion\/\">Over half of Planned Parenthood\u2019s non-government revenue still comes from abortion<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Stephanie Ruhle, using a recurring theme from the narrative propped up by MSNBC\u2019s coverage, framed the issue as impacting low-income women: \u201cWhat happens to those women who don\u2019t engage in politics but need health services?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But in reality, just <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/five-facts-planned-parenthood-family-planning\/\">how many<\/a> women are being affected by Planned Parenthood\u2019s decision to forego Title X funds? Over half of Title X patients, 59%, are <i>not <\/i>going to Planned Parenthood for their Title X services, as previously reported by Live Action News. This information is clearly stated on Planned Parenthood\u2019s own <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthoodaction.org\/issues\/health-care-equity\/title-x\">website<\/a>, and was even highlighted on an informational screen on <i>Andrea Mitchell<\/i>. When it comes to contraception, 68% of patients use that benefit at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/uploads\/filer_public\/33\/63\/3363814b-938e-4ad5-87d2-57ee98790766\/190117-irreplaceable-role-pp-v01.pdf\">other publicly-funded providers<\/a>. As documented by <a href=\"http:\/\/v\">Live Action News<\/a>, Federally-Qualified Health Centers outnumber Planned Parenthoods 20 to 1, and 87% of Title X facilities are <em>not<\/em> Planned Parenthood facilities. Patients will be able to receive their Title X benefits elsewhere, just not from a national business <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/over-half-planned-parenthood-revenue-abortion\/\">which makes over half of its non-governmental income<\/a> from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/learn\/3percent\/\">abortion<\/a>, which\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/what-we-do\/investigations\/sexual-abuse-cover-up\/\">covers up<\/a> rape and sexual assault, and which\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/pressured-planned-parenthood-abortion-quota\/\">pressures women into abortions<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, of all Planned Parenthood\u2019s \u201cservices,\u201d fastest growing one is abortion, while Title X services have <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-more-abortion-less-healthcare\/\">plummeted<\/a> in the last decade. As HHS Secretary Alex Azar <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/five-facts-planned-parenthood-family-planning\/\">stated<\/a> in an interview in June, Planned Parenthood\u2019s \u201c[c]ancer screenings and preventative services are down 60 percent over the last eight years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Wr3Uo8okZkQ\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Life-affirming options, like adoption or carrying the pregnancy to term, are rarely offered at the abortion corporation. In 2017, according to the organization\u2019s most recent <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-more-abortion-less-healthcare\/\">annual report<\/a>, Planned Parenthood made just 2,831 adoption referrals compared with 332,757 abortions it committed that year.<\/p>\n<p>In reality, McGill Johnson\u2019s comments <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifenews.com\/2019\/08\/21\/planned-parenthood-ceo-slams-trump-calls-him-an-unethical-bully-for-defunding-abortion-biz\/?fbclid=IwAR1mn8BOHHED6cs5jot5ZiVq1EpIG3cSeNV6kj3KmS0MQyk0lokgBY7cRo4\">reveal<\/a> what is likely the true purpose of Planned Parenthood\u2019s Title X public relations campaign: to ever increase Planned Parenthood\u2019s vast government funding. \u201cYou don\u2019t fundraise your way out of basic healthcare service.
