Despite these glaring conflicts of interest, media and notable medical journals have failed to hold study authors to account, with some going as far as to allow authors to refrain from listing funding sources, leaving some anonymous. Recently, in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/jamanetwork.com\/journals\/jama\/fullarticle\/2748019\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a glowing piece<\/a>\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/jamanetwork.com\/journals\/jama\/fullarticle\/2748019\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">entitled<\/a>, &#8220;Among Women Seeking Abortion, Continuing Pregnancy Linked to Worse Physical Health.&#8221; This piece cited several of the studies which chose not to reveal their funding sources.<\/p>\n<p><b><\/b>JAMA author <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/rita-rubin-31a6344\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rita Rubin<\/a>\u00a0failed to reveal that funding for the studies (detailed below) came from\u00a0abortion philanthropists, some of whom are investors in abortion pill manufacturer <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/secrecy-abortion-pill-maker-investors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DANCO<\/a>, as well as an &#8220;anonymous&#8221; donor.<\/p>\n<p>These abortion pill investors include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation<\/strong>, which gives\u00a0millions of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/hewlett.org\/grants\/?keyword=Planned%20Parenthood%20&amp;sort=relevance&amp;current_page=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dollars<\/a>\u00a0to abortion groups like\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/hewlett.org\/grants\/?keyword=NARAL&amp;sort=relevance&amp;current_page=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NARAL<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/hewlett.org\/grants\/?keyword=planned%20parenthood%20&amp;sort=relevance&amp;current_page=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Planned Parenthood<\/a>, and the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/hewlett.org\/grants\/?keyword=National%20Abortion%20Federation&amp;sort=relevance&amp;current_page=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Abortion Federation<\/a>. They\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/hewlett.org\/grants\/?keyword=Gynuity&amp;sort=relevance&amp;current_page=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fund<\/a>\u00a0pro-abortion Gynuity Health Projects,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/hewlett.org\/grants\/?keyword=University%20of%20California%20at%20San%20Francisco&amp;sort=relevance&amp;current_page=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UCSF<\/a>\u00a0(known for its abortion training program), and the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/hewlett.org\/grants\/?keyword=Guttmacher&amp;sort=relevance&amp;current_page=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Guttmacher Institute<\/a>\u00a0(Planned Parenthood&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/how-independent-is-guttmacher-from-planned-parenthood\/\">former research arm and &#8220;special affiliate&#8221;<\/a>).\u00a0A stated\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20150315063047\/http:\/\/hewlett.org\/programs\/global-development-population\/us-reproductive-health\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">goal<\/a>\u00a0of Hewlett has been \u201cto expand access to abortion.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id=\"attachment_205959\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\">\n<div id=\"attachment_205959\" style=\"width: 710px\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">David and Lucile Packard Foundation<\/a><\/strong>\u2018s\u00a0previous\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20110518050157\/https:\/\/www.packard.org\/what-we-fund\/population-reproductive-health\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">website<\/a>\u00a0made clear their goal is \u201cexpanding access to safe abortion.\u201d Today Packard\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.packard.org\/what-we-fund\/population-reproductive-health\/what-were-doing\/united-states\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">website<\/a>\u00a0says it exists to \u201censure that women receive quality abortion care by supporting advocacy in targeted states and addressing the clinic and provider shortage.\u201d The Foundation is a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.packard.org\/what-we-fund\/grants-database\/?grant_keyword=Planned+Parenthood+&amp;program_area=Population+and+Reproductive+Health&amp;award_amount=All+Amounts&amp;award_year=All+Years\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">substantial donor<\/a>\u00a0to P<a href=\"https:\/\/www.packard.org\/?s=Planned+Parenthood+&amp;post_filter%5B%5D=grant\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lanned Parenthood<\/a>, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.packard.org\/?s=%22National+Abortion+Federation%22&amp;post_filter%5B%5D=grant\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Abortion Federation<\/a>, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.packard.org\/what-we-fund\/grants-database\/?grant_keyword=NARAL&amp;program_area=Population+and+Reproductive+Health&amp;award_amount=All+Amounts&amp;award_year=All+Years\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NARAL<\/a>, and is an original\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.packard.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Packard_MIR_2016mar8.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">investor<\/a>\u00a0in the abortion pill manufacturer,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/secrecy-abortion-pill-maker-investors\/\" target=\"_blank\" Buffett Foundation (billionaire Warren Buffett\u2019s foundation), which is an abortion investor.<\/p>\n<p>Live Action News has\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/study-pushing-abortion-pill-access-gain\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">documented<\/a>\u00a0several times that the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/SB968103355754057093\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Buffett<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/secrecy-abortion-pill-maker-investors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Packard<\/a>\u00a0Foundations were original\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.packard.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Packard_MIR_2016mar8.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">investors<\/a> in the abortion pill manufacturer,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/secrecy-abortion-pill-maker-investors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DANCO<\/a>, as were billionaire\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.everycrsreport.com\/files\/20010223_RL30866_c6c423f682c56ed7c586755595c02d5202ddf6bd.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">George Soros<\/a>\u00a0(Open Society Foundations)\u00a0and the California-based\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/community.seattletimes.nwsource.com\/archive\/?date=20001119&amp;slug=TTUJ2CJCR\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kaiser Family Foundation<\/a>.
