When he combined that passion with his love for his daughter, he ended up with the opportunity to touch a lot of hearts and minds. He recorded the song &#8220;Ten by Twelve&#8221; which was written about his daughter who has Down syndrome, and the music video has racked up thousands of views.<\/p>\n<p>The song, written by Germaine Brunet, describes the struggles a young girl with special needs experiences, including five weeks spent in the NICU fighting to survive. &#8220;I wanted to share my love for Lilly with the world and showcase what families with special needs go through every day,&#8221; Griffith <a href=\"https:\/\/www.11alive.com\/article\/news\/forsyth-county-father-dedicates-song-to-daughter-with-down-syndrome\/85-a8f2ecbe-b273-462e-9e71-5388ddcc6c0b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told 11 Alive<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><center><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/vNA4X9d7yT8\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/center>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Griffith originally recorded the song at a small studio, but after gaining attention, it was produced for free at Blackbird Studio in Nashville, which is owned by country superstar Martina McBride. &#8220;Ten by Twelve&#8221; tells Lilly&#8217;s story, and the title is in reference to the rooms she&#8217;s moved through in her life.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt just kind of came about because a room is ten by twelve [feet],\u201d Griffith told\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.forsythnews.com\/local\/forsyth-county-singer-debuts-song-daughter-down-syndrome\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Forsyth County News<\/a>. \u201cThe first part they\u2019re talking about the nursery and the room 10 by 12. Then she got bullied by kids at school, so she\u2019s in her room, 10 by 12. Then the hospital room, 10 by 12.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As the song has grown in popularity, Griffith&#8217;s goals have grown, too. \u201cIt\u2019s a tearjerker, but in a good way, I think. It\u2019s country, which is tearjerker stuff, but I think the song has a good meaning,&#8221; he said, adding, \u201cI just wanted the song to be a tribute for not only those with Down syndrome. However, people with Down syndrome &#8212; and their families &#8212; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC3740159\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">overwhelmingly report being happy<\/a>. Parents tend to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mc.vanderbilt.edu\/reporter\/index.html?ID=6087\">divorce less frequently<\/a> and have high levels of personal fulfillment. Siblings likewise report <a href=\"https:\/\/medicalxpress.com\/news\/2011-09-parents-siblings-people-syndrome-positive.html\">similarly positive experiences<\/a>. Yet negative stereotypes surrounding Down syndrome persist, leading to the continuation of eugenic abortions.
