ABC’s president is the latest to threaten a boycott of the state of Georgia due to the state’s recent passage of its heartbeat bill. The bill, which prohibits abortion after about six weeks (once a preborn child’s heartbeat can be detected), has prompted outrageous responses from major television networks and actors, many who claim that they will refuse to do business in the state should the new law be enforced.<\/p>\n

When asked if ABC would continue to film its productions in Georgia, a state that’s become one of the nation’s biggest entertainment hubs, network president Karey Burke responded<\/a>, “It’s an open issue. This law is being challenged right now in the courts. We will just wait to see what\u2019s decided and make a decision.\u201d<\/p>\n

Burke’s response comes just a day after CW President Mark Pedowitz said he would follow the lead of his parent companies in determining whether or not CW would continue to film in the state.<\/p>\n

\u201cFirst, anybody who interferes with people\u2019s right to make medical choices, I am solely against,\u201d Pedowitz said<\/a> during the Television Critics Association press tour. \u201cSecond, the law is not in effect yet. We are following the path of our parent companies. If the law is passed, I am certain we\u2019ll have discussions with both studios about what to do and what not to do.\u201d<\/p>\n

Abortion, it should be noted, is a “medical choice” which does not heal or treat a condition; instead, it deliberately destroys an innocent human life<\/a>. Killing humans should never be considered health care or a simple “medical choice.” In every abortion, at least one human is killed — and women are injured and even killed from legal<\/em> abortion.
