Live Action News has previously <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/doctor-out-planned-parenthood-political-activist-president\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">detailed<\/a>\u00a0Johnson&#8217;s activism.\u00a0The acting president was tossed softball questions without challenge or follow-up by the CBS reporter &#8212; which might explain why\u00a0CBS was also the go-to media outlet\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=bQGLk3y8H0E\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">chosen<\/a> to introduce recently <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-leana-wen-fighting-abortion-fired\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ousted<\/a> president Dr. Leana Wen when she began her short tenure in late 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Johnson\u00a0claimed that the &#8220;media&#8221; misread Wen&#8217;s outgoing statement on &#8220;philosophical differences.&#8221; But in a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DrLeanaWen\/status\/1151233772181999616\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">letter<\/a>\u00a0to \u201ccolleagues\u201d posted to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DrLeanaWen\/status\/1151233772181999616\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitter<\/a>, Wen stated, \u201cThe\u00a0<strong>new Board leadership<\/strong>\u00a0has determined that\u00a0<strong>the priority of Planned Parenthood moving forward is to double down on abortion rights advocacy<\/strong>.\u201d What is there to misread? It doesn&#8217;t get more clear than that.<\/p>\n<p>Johnson also claimed Planned Parenthood is &#8220;not political by nature&#8221; &#8212; but apparently she hopes the public has forgotten about former president Cecile Richards&#8217;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-aim-largest-kick-butt-political-organization\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stated<\/a>\u00a0goal was to make Planned Parenthood the &#8220;largest kick-butt <strong>political<\/strong> organization.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>No matter who the representative is, Planned Parenthood tends to repeatedly perpetuate falsehoods. Here&#8217;s a Live Action ShareThis video showing five times the Washington Post caught the abortion corporation in lies:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fliveaction%2Fvideos%2F405114970113189%2F&amp;show_text=1&amp;width=476\" width=\"476\" height=\"587\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>What else did Johnson reveal in this softball interview?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Johnson acknowledged:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fundraising will be a large part of her role.<\/li>\n<li>She believes taxpayers should be forced to pay for abortions.<\/li>\n<li>Planned Parenthood is &#8220;concerned broadly about the number of bans.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Planned Parenthood is &#8220;very concerned about Roe.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>She is\u00a0&#8220;not the arbiter on science.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>She is proud to stand up for the nation&#8217;s largest abortion provider, and for abortion.<\/li>\n<li>She believes abortion\u00a0&#8220;should be seen in that broad spectrum of health care.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>She understands\u00a0&#8220;moral concerns that people may have with respect to abortion.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>She believes abortion is a &#8220;personal question&#8221; and refused to say whether she ever had one.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Johnson caught herself before she made a similar claim to one previously made by Wen, regarding the number of women who died from abortion prior to <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em>. That claim went unchallenged by the media (including CBS) for months until Live Action News\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-debunked-thousands-abortion-die\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">debunked<\/a>\u00a0it <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/lying-planned-parenthood-debunked-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">multiple<\/a>\u00a0times. Finally, the Washington Post stepped in to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2019\/05\/29\/planned-parenthoods-false-stat-thousands-women-died-every-year-before-roe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fact check<\/a>. Johnson said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>What we don&#8217;t want to do is go back to times where people were making very awful choices &#8212; you know &#8212; life threatening choices to access abortion care&#8230; or connecting to providers that aren&#8217;t as trusted in their communities. So, the more available access to abortion is in your own community, the more likely you will be able to make a choice that will be safe. Slate even <a href=\"https:\/\/slate.com\/human-interest\/2013\/05\/3-percent-of-planned-parenthood-s-services-are-abortion-but-what-about-their-revenues.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">called<\/a> the 3% statistic\u00a0&#8220;meaningless\u2014to the point of being downright silly.&#8221; In addition, Smith claimed 28% of Americans\u00a0believe abortion is morally wrong, without citing a source. But in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/news.gallup.com\/poll\/257858\/birth-control-tops-list-morally-acceptable-issues.aspx?utm_source=alert&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_content=morelink&amp;utm_campaign=syndication\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">May of 2019<\/a>, Gallup reported that <em>50% of Americans<\/em> found abortion to be morally wrong. Additional <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pollingreport.com\/abortion.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">polling<\/a> shows a clear majority says there should be limitations on abortion.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/qtgqxvaV-8U\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><u>The CBS interview failed in many more ways, as well. CBS&#8217;s Kate Smith failed to&#8230;<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ask Planned Parenthood&#8217;s acting president about numerous <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/media-planned-parenthood-staffer-exodus-president\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">staff departures<\/a>\u00a0as well as PP&#8217;s own\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/employees-planned-parenthood-mask-crack\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">disgruntled employees<\/a>, who accused the corporation of intimidation, low wages,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/report-planned-parenthood-discriminated-pregnant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">discrimination<\/a>\u00a0against\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-dark-pregnancy-discrimination\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pregnant staffers<\/a>, and a toxic work environment.<\/li>\n<li>Ask about the ongoing\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/senators-fbi-planned-parenthood-aborted-body-criminal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">criminal investigation<\/a>\u00a0into\u00a0Planned Parenthood\u00a0regarding the possible sale of aborted baby body parts.<\/li>\n<li>Ask why <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/ekgiScr364Y\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">prenatal care<\/a> at Planned Parenthood is virtually nonexistent at the abortion corporation, and ask why its former president\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/watch\/?v=10153628592208728\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">admitted<\/a> that it had zero mammogram machines after leading the public to believe it performed mammograms.<\/li>\n<li>Ask why actual health services\u00a0at Planned Parenthood are\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-plummeting-health-increased-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">plummeting<\/a>, while its government dollars, excess revenue and abortions skyrocket.<\/li>\n<li>State that polling shows a <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/poll-majority-hyde-amendment-taxpayers-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">majority of Americans<\/a> favor keeping the Hyde Amendment: 57% (<a href=\"https:\/\/scottrasmussen.com\/57-favor-keeping-the-hyde-amendment-30-opposed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Scott Rasmussen\/ June 2019<\/a>). The Hyde Amendment bans federal taxpayer dollars from paying for most abortions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ekgiScr364Y\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>From 2007 to 2017, Planned Parenthood&#8217;s excess revenue over expenses increased 188% ($85 million in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/2007-2008-Planned-Parenthood-Annual-Report.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2007<\/a>\u00a0to $244.8 million in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/uploads\/filer_public\/80\/d7\/80d7d7c7-977c-4036-9c61-b3801741b441\/190118-annualreport18-p01.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2017<\/a>.) But CBS failed to state how Planned Parenthood&#8217;s\u00a0&#8220;supporters&#8221; include the <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/report-planned-parenthood-money-laundering\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">politicians<\/a> Planned Parenthood&#8217;s political arm financially endorses.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/bK1tE74o3Q0\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><u>CBS also didn&#8217;t tell the truth about Title X family planning funding and Planned Parenthood:<\/u><\/p>\n<p>Live Action News <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/five-facts-planned-parenthood-family-planning\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">previously<\/a> documented that 87% of Title X family\u00a0planning services providers are NOT Planned Parenthood facilities, 59% of patients getting Title X services are NOT getting them from PP, and PP\u2019s Title X qualified services have DROPPED 60% over 8 years.<\/p>\n<p>CBS failed to&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Challenge Johnson after she claimed Title X was &#8220;gutted,&#8221; even though the Trump administration actually <em>increased<\/em>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/appropriations.house.gov\/news\/press-releases\/hr-2740-release-summary\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">funding<\/a>\u00a0to $400M.<\/li>\n<li>Ask why <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/poor-women-health-centers-planned-parenthood\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">poor women<\/a> should have to go to an abortion organization instead of Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs).<\/li>\n<li>Point out that the $60 million in Title X funds Planned Parenthood might lose represent a mere <em>fraction<\/em> (less than 10%) of the nearly $564 million PP got from other taxpayer-funded programs.<\/li>\n<li>Acknowledge that taxpayer dollars <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/yes-your-tax-dollars-fund-abortions-at-planned-parenthood\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">support<\/a> the very facilities and staff needed for abortion operations.<\/li>\n<li>Reveal that PP actively <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-plan-financial-incentives-abortion-limits\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">works<\/a> to repeal the Hyde Amendment, which prohibits federal (not state) taxpayer dollars from funding abortion.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/BgB5E91lD6s\" width=\"640\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Live Action News <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/dangerous-missouri-abortion-failed-abortions-remain-open\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">previously<\/a>\u00a0documented how Planned Parenthood&#8217;s Missouri abortion facility had over 70 emergency calls, left <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/investigation-missouri-planned-parenthood-multiple-failed-abortions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">baby body parts<\/a> inside at least four women, and nearly killed another. But CBS failed to\u00a0state the licensing &#8220;battle&#8221; was over health violations,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/media-missouri-planned-parenthood-license-political-wrong\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">detailed<\/a> in the state&#8217;s health department\u00a062-page\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.operationrescue.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/1922-CC02395-6-13-2019-Exhibit-A.pdf\">Statement of Deficiencies<\/a>\u00a0report.<\/p>\n<p>CBS asked Johnson about Planned Parenthood&#8217;s security, claiming increased &#8220;anti-abortion violence.&#8221; Johnson responded that Planned Parenthood strives\u00a0to ensure safety of staff, and yet, CBS failed to bring up instances when PP failed to do the same for victims of rape. Documented criminal cases <a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/what-we-do\/investigations\/aidingabusers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reveal<\/a> how PP failed to report child sexual abuse &#8212; and in some instances\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-victims-sexual-abusers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">returned<\/a>\u00a0sexual abuse victims into arms of their abusers.
