(LifeSiteNews<\/a>) – A little over one week ago, Apple approved LifeSiteNews\u2019\u00a0application to publish our news on their Apple News platform.<\/p>\n

Today [on July 31], without warning, Apple News abruptly reversed course,\u00a0telling LifeSite that they had deleted our channel and all of our content from their platform.<\/p>\n

Apple claimed that LifeSite\u2019s channel\u00a0\u201cdidn’t comply with our Apple News guidelines.\u201d\u00a0Specifically, they stated that LifeSite\u2019s \u201c[c]hannel content shows intolerance towards a specific group.\u201d<\/p>\n

Apple\u2019s e-mail\u00a0provided no details about which content they deemed offensive, or which \u201cspecific group\u201d\u00a0LifeSite\u2019s content allegedly showed intolerance towards.<\/p>\n

LifeSite has reached out to Apple News for further details about their decision, which we intend to appeal.<\/p>\n

Apple News is an app that is available on all Apple devices. It aggregates news content from thousands of publishers. Apple users can \u201cfollow\u201d their favorite news sites and receive customized updates.<\/p>\n

Conservatives have expressed alarm in recent years that a small number of large tech giants, often located in predominantly left-wing jurisdictions, are acting as gatekeepers to an increasing amount of the world\u2019s information.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t yet know the reason for Apple\u2019s decision to delete our channel,\u201d said LifeSiteNews\u00a0Editor-in-Chief John-Henry Westen. \u201cHowever, at a time when there is growing evidence that tech juggernauts are engaging in concerted censorship against even mainstream conservative viewpoints,\u00a0Apple\u2019s decision \u2013 made unilaterally, and without opportunity to appeal \u2013 is frightening.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt goes without saying that LifeSite would never promote intolerance or hatred against any group,\u201d Westen continued.\u00a0\u201cHowever, in our current divisive political climate,\u00a0even mild expressions of common conservative viewpoints are often written off as\u00a0de facto\u00a0<\/em>hatred and intolerance. We certainly hope that this is not what Apple is doing. However, we urge our readers to contact Apple, and to respectfully demand that they reinstate LifeSite\u2019s channel.\u201d<\/p>\n

LifeSiteNews has created\u00a0a petition<\/a>\u00a0that people can sign to express their opinions to Apple about this decision.<\/p>\n

LifeSiteNews first applied to publish on the Apple News platform \u2013 billed as a neutral news aggregator \u2013 last November. It took over six months, and dozens of follow-up requests, before LifeSite\u2019s channel was finally approved\u00a0earlier this month….<\/p>\n
