This would make abortion less safe for women. Why would they do this? Profit. Sadly, their potential profit motives and conflicts of interest are being ignored by mainstream media. Live Action News continues to uncover the <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/?s=Packard\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">collaborators<\/a>\u00a0pushing to expand abortion, and reveal how the media <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/study-pushing-abortion-pill-access-gain\/\">isn&#8217;t scrutinizing any studies<\/a> put out by the abortion industry.<\/p>\n<p>The latest abortion pill <a href=\"https:\/\/insights.ovid.com\/pubmed?pmid=31306317&amp;clickthrough=y\">study<\/a>\u00a0is &#8212; like others &#8212; being funded by an original investor in the company that manufactures the abortion pill:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/secrecy-abortion-pill-maker-investors\/\">DANCO Laboratories, LLC<\/a>.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/journals.lww.com\/greenjournal\/Abstract\/2019\/08000\/Medication_Abortion_Provided_Through_Telemedicine.19.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Published<\/a>\u00a0by the Journal Obstetrics &amp; Gynecology,\u00a0the official publication of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists &#8212; popularly known as &#8220;The Green Journal&#8221; &#8212; the\u00a0July 2019 study,\u00a0&#8220;Medication Abortion Provided Through Telemedicine in Four U.S. States,&#8221;\u00a0was funded by\u00a0the Susan T. Buffett Foundation (billionaire Warren Buffett&#8217;s foundation). Live Action News has <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/study-pushing-abortion-pill-access-gain\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">documented<\/a> several times that the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/SB968103355754057093\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Buffett<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/secrecy-abortion-pill-maker-investors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Packard<\/a>\u00a0Foundations were original investors in DANCO Labs. Grossman is <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/secrecy-abortion-pill-maker-investors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">leading<\/a> the charge to get rid of the Food and Drug Administration&#8217;s safety protocols on the abortion pill. He&#8217;s conducting several clinical trials to that end with support from UCSF, which <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/paying-millions-abortion-training-taxpayers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">trains<\/a> abortionists.<\/p>\n<p>Additional study authors are also employed by groups that profit from abortion:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Julia E. The problem of an anonymous funder is the concern for conflicts of interests.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Looking at the information below, you can see why the authors wouldn&#8217;t want the public to know who was funding their study.<\/p>\n<p>The pill was brought into the U.S. by the <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/population-council-founded-eugenicists-promoting-abortion-turns-65\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/population-council-founded-eugenicists-promoting-abortion-turns-65\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1565708418475000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHuXBeiUY_CHXs_0X1BFhFgeAIWkA\">Population Council<\/a>, a eugenics organization which sought out investors\u00a0like The Packard Foundation to <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/whos-who-abortion-pill-reversal-study\/\">help<\/a>\u00a0keep\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/secrecy-abortion-pill-maker-investors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/secrecy-abortion-pill-maker-investors\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1565708418475000&amp;usg=AFQjCNEx4R_4vs_aAcG0YlkHELew-GjlJA\">DANCO<\/a>\u00a0afloat in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/timeline.packard.org\/#page20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/timeline.packard.org\/%23page20&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1565708418475000&amp;usg=AFQjCNFLVQznj9iTAQb_8HLsEAWCS41ckg\">1996<\/a>, when\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/secrecy-abortion-pill-maker-investors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/secrecy-abortion-pill-maker-investors\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1565708418475000&amp;usg=AFQjCNEx4R_4vs_aAcG0YlkHELew-GjlJA\">it<\/a>\u00a0\u201cran short on funds\u201d and had \u201cdifficulty attracting investors.\u201d The Buffett Foundation also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/SB968103355754057093\">gave funding<\/a>\u00a0for\u00a0&#8220;the development of mifepristone [abortion pill].&#8221; Internal documents reviewed by the\u00a0Wall Street Journal revealed that a number of other abortion pill investors chose to remain<span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\">\u00a0<\/span><i>unnamed<\/i><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\">.\u00a0<\/span>Buffett still\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/990s.foundationcenter.org\/990pf_pdf_archive\/476\/476032365\/476032365_201612_990PF.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/990s.foundationcenter.org\/990pf_pdf_archive\/476\/476032365\/476032365_201612_990PF.pdf&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1565708418475000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHleKvrDSxIf19EHEKmpYSJWD9yCA\">funds<\/a>\u00a0many abortion groups like Planned Parenthood. That money was in turn used to conduct clinical trials of RU-486 [the abortion pill].&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The abortion pill\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/insights.ovid.com\/crossref?an=00006250-900000000-97662\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">study<\/a>\u00a0got off on a dishonest foot right from the get-go, with the authors claiming, &#8220;There is consensus within the medical and scientific communities that induced abortion is a safe and effective health care procedure.&#8221; <em>What?<\/em> Consensus? Hardly. This claim is based off of a highly suspect\u00a02018 &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www8.nationalacademies.org\/onpinews\/newsitem.aspx?RecordID=24950\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Consensus Study Report<\/a>&#8221; from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www8.nationalacademies.org\/onpinews\/newsitem.aspx?RecordID=24950\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Academies of Sciences [NASEM]<\/a>. This report was also conducted by abortion insiders <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/profit-motive-study-claiming-abortion-safe\/\">dedicated to expanding abortion<\/a>. And guess what? The Consensus study (like all the other abortion pill studies, it seems) was <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/profit-motive-study-claiming-abortion-safe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sponsored<\/a> by wealthy population control\/abortion enthusiasts: The Buffett Foundation, The JPB Foundation, The David and Lucile Packard Foundation, The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, the\u00a0Tara Health Foundation, and the Grove Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>Every single study these researchers point to in order to support their so-called &#8220;research&#8221; is funded by population control\/abortion enthusiasts. Study author\u00a0Grossman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.healthline.com\/health-news\/telemedicine-abortion-care-can-be-just-as-safe-as-an-in-person-visit\">pointed to<\/a> another abortion pill\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/28885427\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">study<\/a>, co-authored with\u00a0Kate Grindlay (a Director and Associate of the <em>Free the Pill<\/em> project at Ibis who\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ibisreproductivehealth.org\/people\/grindlay\">previously worked<\/a> for UCSF\u2019s Women\u2019s Global Health).\u00a0That\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/28885427\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">study<\/a>\u00a0was <em>also<\/em> funded by the Buffett Foundation as well as the Grove Foundation, which 1)<b> <\/b>Receives\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.packard.org\/grants-and-investments\/grants-database\/the-grove-foundation-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">funds<\/a>\u00a0from the original investor of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/secrecy-abortion-pill-maker-investors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DANCO<\/a>, the Packard Foundation, 2)\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bigdatabase.com\/Big-DB\/USFoundation-profiles\/GROVE%20FOUNDATION-770108124.HTML\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Funds<\/a>\u00a0Planned Parenthood (and has\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mrc.org\/articles\/planned-parenthood%E2%80%99s-biggest-donors-give-374-million-four-years\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">for years<\/a>), and 3) Funds the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/whos-who-abortion-pill-reversal-study\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">University of California San Francisco<\/a>, which trains abortion providers.<\/p>\n<p>Healthline didn&#8217;t question either study or its funding sources.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_208197\" style=\"width: 430px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-208197\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-208197\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Grossman-abortion-pill-Study-funded-investor-of-Danco.jpg\" alt=\"Image: Grossman abortion pill Study funded investor of Danco\" width=\"420\" height=\"491\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Grossman-abortion-pill-Study-funded-investor-of-Danco.jpg 420w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Grossman-abortion-pill-Study-funded-investor-of-Danco-257x300.jpg 257w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 420px) 100vw, 420px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-208197\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Grossman abortion pill Study funded investor of Danco<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The FDA <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/Drugs\/DrugSafety\/PostmarketDrugSafetyInformationforPatientsandProviders\/ucm492705.htm\">reports<\/a> that as of the end of 2018,\u00a0<strong>24 women have died <\/strong>after taking the abortion pill (Mifeprex), and thousands have had serious complications. However, due to changes made in 2016 by the FDA, only deaths are now required to be reported, which means there is no accurate record of how many additional serious and concerning complications are occurring. In addition, women who experience abortion pill complications may visit emergency rooms with claims of &#8220;miscarriage&#8221; rather than return to the abortion facilities where they purchased the pills.<\/p>\n<p>It is past time for the media to begin to raise serious questions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Why are groups that have financially invested in DANCO funding studies?<\/li>\n<li>Why are these conflicts not being identified in the journals that publish the studies?<\/li>\n<li>Is there a profit motive behind the claim that these abortion expansion efforts are safe?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Would the media be as quick to believe studies claiming smoking was safe, if they were funded by the manufacturers? Something to ponder.<\/p>\n<h6>Editor&#8217;s Note: FDA has received reports of serious adverse events in women who took mifepristone. As of June 30, 2021, there were reports of 26 deaths of women associated with mifepristone since the product was approved in September 2000, including two cases of ectopic pregnancy (a pregnancy located outside the womb, such as in the fallopian tubes) resulting in death; and several cases of severe systemic infection (also called sepsis), including some that were fatal. The adverse events cannot with certainty be causally attributed to mifepristone because of concurrent use of other drugs, other medical or surgical treatments, co-existing medical conditions, and information gaps about patient health status and clinical management of the patient.
