The corporation&#8217;s abortion market share has steadily\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-more-abortion-less-healthcare\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">increased<\/a>\u00a0(due in part to half a billion dollars they\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-more-abortion-less-healthcare\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">receive<\/a>\u00a0from taxpayers annually), while actual health care services are <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-more-abortion-less-healthcare\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">plummeting<\/a>. That is because Planned Parenthood is focused on abortion, a point made more evident in the recent\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-leana-wen-fighting-abortion-fired\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ousting<\/a> of the group&#8217;s physician president, Dr. Leana Wen, for her resistance to prioritize and politicize abortion.<\/p>\n<p>Despite Planned Parenthood&#8217;s receipt of nearly half a billion in taxpayer dollars annually since 2009 (and hundreds of millions prior to that), Planned Parenthood has chosen to shutter the same facilities they have claimed are <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/poor-women-health-centers-planned-parenthood\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">needed<\/a> by those who are poor and disadvantaged. Even after increased government funding and excess revenue reaching hundreds of millions of dollars, actual health care services dropped while abortions again rose.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Between 2007 and 2017, data from Planned Parenthood&#8217;s published annual reports reveal the following decreases:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><b>Patients<\/b><\/span>\u00a0dropped\u00a021 percent (3,020,651 in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/liveaction.org\/research\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/2007-2008-Planned-Parenthood-Annual-Report.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2007<\/a>\u00a0to\u00a02.4 million male and female patients in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/about-us\/who-we-are\/planned-parenthood-at-a-glance\">2017<\/a>.)<\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Pap tests<\/span><\/strong> decreased nearly 72 percent (968,682 in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/2007-2008-Planned-Parenthood-Annual-Report.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2007<\/a>\u00a0to\u00a0274,145\u00a0in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/uploads\/filer_public\/80\/d7\/80d7d7c7-977c-4036-9c61-b3801741b441\/190118-annualreport18-p01.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2017<\/a>.)<\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Breast exams<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0fell 65 percent (851,232 in\u00a0<a rel=\"noopener\">2007<\/a>\u00a0to\u00a0296,310\u00a0in\u00a0<a in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/uploads\/filer_public\/80\/d7\/80d7d7c7-977c-4036-9c61-b3801741b441\/190118-annualreport18-p01.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2017<\/a>.)<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><b>Prenatal care<\/b><\/span> dropped 17 percent (10,914 in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/2007-2008-Planned-Parenthood-Annual-Report.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2007<\/a>\u00a0to\u00a09,055 in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/uploads\/filer_public\/80\/d7\/80d7d7c7-977c-4036-9c61-b3801741b441\/190118-annualreport18-p01.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2017<\/a>.)<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><b>Adoption referrals<\/b><\/span>\u00a0decreased 42% (actual 42.37%) (4,912 in 2007 to 2831 in 2017)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Increases at Planned Parenthood between 2007 to 2017 include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Taxpayer funding<\/span><\/b>\u00a0increased over 61 percent ($349.6 million in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/2007-2008-Planned-Parenthood-Annual-Report.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2007<\/a> to $563.8 million\u00a0in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/uploads\/filer_public\/80\/d7\/80d7d7c7-977c-4036-9c61-b3801741b441\/190118-annualreport18-p01.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2017<\/a>.)<\/li>\n<li><b><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Private donations<\/span><\/b> increased over 157 percent ($244.9 in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/2007-2008-Planned-Parenthood-Annual-Report.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2007<\/a>\u00a0to $630.8\u00a0million\u00a0in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/uploads\/filer_public\/80\/d7\/80d7d7c7-977c-4036-9c61-b3801741b441\/190118-annualreport18-p01.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2017<\/a>.)<\/li>\n<li><b><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Excess revenue over expenses<\/span><\/b> 188% increase ($85 million in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/2007-2008-Planned-Parenthood-Annual-Report.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2007<\/a>\u00a0to $244.8 million in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/uploads\/filer_public\/80\/d7\/80d7d7c7-977c-4036-9c61-b3801741b441\/190118-annualreport18-p01.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2017<\/a>.)<\/li>\n<li><b><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Abortions<\/span><\/b> increased 9 percent (305,310 in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/2007-2008-Planned-Parenthood-Annual-Report.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2007<\/a>\u00a0to 332,757\u00a0in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/uploads\/filer_public\/80\/d7\/80d7d7c7-977c-4036-9c61-b3801741b441\/190118-annualreport18-p01.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2017<\/a>,)\u00a0the highest number committed by the corporation since 2011.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>READ:\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/planned-parenthood-leana-wen-fighting-abortion-fired\/\">Planned Parenthood prez Leana Wen wasn\u2019t fighting hard enough for abortion. So they fired her.<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In 2017 alone, Planned Parenthood reported 117 abortions for every adoption referral, ending the lives\u00a0of 912 preborn babies at a rate of 38 per hour, or one abortion every 95 seconds. Planned Parenthood\u2019s abortion market share currently stands at 35.9% when compared to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.guttmacher.org\/united-states\/abortion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">most recent<\/a> data from the Guttmacher Institute for 2014. Since CDC abortion numbers are generally <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/understanding-abortion-reporting-numbers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">much lower<\/a> than numbers released by Guttmacher (Planned Parenthood\u2019s former \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/how-independent-is-guttmacher-from-planned-parenthood\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">special affiliate<\/a>\u201d), Live Action News compares market share to Guttmacher. This number may increase after Guttmacher releases new figures. This translates\u00a0into an estimated 52 percent\u00a0of the corporation&#8217;s non-government health services revenue and 11.4 percent of total revenue. Planned Parenthood collected a whopping $244.8 million in excess revenue over spending in just one year, according to its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/uploads\/filer_public\/71\/53\/7153464c-8f5d-4a26-bead-2a0dfe2b32ec\/20171229_ar16-17_p01_lowres.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2017-2018<\/a>\u00a0annual report.
